🎯 Direct 💙 Warm 🥇 Empowering 🧘 CalmWhy Avigail Teiler, LMSW chose to be in the helping profession
Becoming a therapist was a journey shaped by my own experiences of growth and healing. Throughout my own mental health journey, I was blessed to encounter individuals who guided me, listened without judgment, and believed in my potential. Their support not only helped me navigate my struggles but also ignited a passion within me to be that support for others. I want to help individuals uncover their strengths and resilience, just as someone once did for me.
Witnessing the transformation of my clients is a profound privilege. Each story is unique, and witnessing a person embrace their strengths, overcome obstacles, and grow into their best self is incredibly rewarding. I am continually inspired by the human spirit and the incredible capacity for change within each of us. As a therapist, I strive to create a safe and nurturing space where individuals can explore their thoughts and feelings, and ultimately, thrive in their own journey of self-discovery and empowerment.
Avigail Teiler, LMSW's approach
As a trauma-informed, psychodynamic therapist, I place a strong emphasis on attachment styles and inner child work. I recognize that each person is unique, and while I specialize in these areas, I consider myself eclectic in my therapeutic approach. Balancing a focus on both the past and the present is essential; concentrating solely on one without the other is like performing surgery without a bandage or using a bandage without surgery—neither approach is effective on its own. Therefore, we need to delve into the past to gain valuable insights while also equipping you with tools to thrive in the present.
In our sessions, we'll explore your history to uncover the roots of your experiences and behaviors, and we'll also incorporate techniques from behavioral models like DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to address current challenges. Re-telling your story empowers you to create a new one, allowing you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your patterns. Your experiences are important, and they deserve to be heard and validated.
Understanding your attachment style can be incredibly enlightening. It helps to uncover the patterns, struggles, and behaviors that you encounter in both your relationships and your personal life. These insights provide you with the knowledge and, consequently, the power to take control of your life and make the changes you desire.
I would describe myself as a more laid-back therapist with a good sense of humor and a fun personality. This approach has proven to be an effective skill in building rapport and fostering a comfortable, safe environment for my clients. I am grateful to have the ability to make everyone feel at ease and secure in my presence. In my practice, you will find a judgment-free zone where you can freely express yourself and explore your journey toward healing and self-discovery.
What you can expect from sessions with Avigail Teiler, LMSW
My primary goal is to understand you and what you, or your child, hope to gain from therapy. It's perfectly okay if you're not sure about the answer yet. Together, we'll talk through it and uncover what has drawn you to explore more about yourself.
Our sessions will be a collaborative journey where we delve into your motivations and aspirations. We’ll work together to identify your goals, whether they are clear from the outset or emerge over time. My approach is designed to empower you, helping you take control of your life and navigate through the challenges you face.
You can expect a supportive and non-judgmental environment where your experiences and feelings are validated. We'll explore your past and present to gain a comprehensive understanding of your unique story. By doing so, we aim to equip you with the tools and insights necessary to foster personal growth and healing.
Ultimately, the goal is to empower you to take your life back, fostering a sense of agency and confidence as you move forward on your path to self-discovery and fulfillment.
Avigail Teiler, LMSW's experience working with the Jewish community
I feel incredibly fortunate to have grown up in the Jewish world and have always known I wanted to give back to this community. Having witnessed the stigma surrounding mental health and the limited resources available, I knew early on that I wanted to make a difference. So, when I chose to pursue a career in mental health, I committed myself to using my skills to help our community become even stronger.
Since October 7 and the surge in antisemitism, my dedication to helping other Jews has only deepened. I have an extensive understanding of the Orthodox Jewish community and its unique needs, which is especially valuable in my work with teenagers and young adults. Recently, I've also found myself supporting college students facing antisemitism on campus.
I am deeply committed to seeing our community thrive. Through my work, I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where mental health can be openly discussed and addressed. My goal is to contribute to the well-being and resilience of the community I love, helping it grow stronger from within.

What my clients have to say about working with me:
-
"She changed my life in ways you couldn't even imagine... I will be forever grateful"
AP
-
"I feel like life is finally worth living and that's saying a lot".
SS
-
"I've been in and out of therapy for 8 years and Abby (Avigail) is the first one to understand me and really humanize me. She listened to me and made me feel human when I was in my most vulnerable place. I was so ashamed of myself and she never judged me and always treated me with dignity and kindness. Her leaving her internship (the clinic I was at) was the saddest day for me! I can't imagine finding someone as skilled as her."
