Why Sheri Bardos, Psy.D. chose to be in the helping profession

It is hard to call it a "choice" when I never actually considered any other path or profession. Since I was five years old, I have always felt a profound pull towards helping others in this capacity. It feels like it is my very essence. I thrive on hearing your stories, understanding the unique characters that populate your life, and being the detective who pieces it all together.

To me, it is like untangling a complex web where the past intertwines with the present, all to help you craft an amazing future. Imagine being in a maze, unsure of which way to turn—left or right? From an outsider's perspective, looking down from above, I can help you gain the clarity you need to see the entire maze and make the most effective choices to reach your goals.

Helping others is not just what I do; it is who I am. The fulfillment from guiding someone through their confusion and watching them achieve their dreams is indescribable. This profession allows me to connect deeply with people, understand their struggles, and celebrate their triumphs.

It is truly an honor and a privilege to support you on your journey.

Sheri Bardos, Psy.D.'s approach

Traditional psychology often focuses on human pathology, diagnosing people into limiting boxes. My passion, however, lies in human potential—helping you uncover and embrace your most authentic self. Coaches typically emphasize shaping your ideal future self, paying less attention to the past. I believe that combining both approaches creates the most effective process. One without the other leaves gaps in the journey towards self-improvement.

What if you could learn to magnify your strengths to achieve your biggest goals? That's where my approach comes in. I blend the best of both worlds, integrating psychological insight with forward-focused coaching techniques. This holistic method ensures a comprehensive understanding of where you have been and where you want to go.

I am warm, compassionate, and down-to-earth. My feedback is direct but always delivered with empathy. Moreover, I teach you how to move forward, ensuring you have the practical tools and support necessary to thrive. Together, we will strategize to unlock your potential and create a path to your most fulfilling life.

What you can expect from sessions with Sheri Bardos, Psy.D.

I take a holistic approach to healing. Just as an artist's palette is filled with many vibrant colors to create a magnificent piece of art, I draw from a diverse array of philosophies and trainings to meet your unique needs. In our sessions, I hold space to genuinely listen to your pain and desires, ensuring you feel heard and understood.

Every session will also be filled with practical takeaways and small but transformational exercises. These exercises are designed to be practiced daily, allowing your growth to continue rapidly—ideally seven days a week—rather than just during our weekly sessions. This approach ensures that you are consistently moving forward, integrating the insights and skills we discuss into your everyday life.

Grab your pen or laptop because you are going to want to write down the many insights, wisdom, and practical tools that burst forth from each session! Reviewing these is essential so that you can integrate them into your daily life, to receive the maximum benefit.

Sheri Bardos, Psy.D.'s experience working with the Jewish community

It is incredibly gratifying and meaningful to make a positive contribution within the Jewish community. At 16, I moved to Manhattan to attend Yeshiva University, as there was no Orthodox community where I grew up in Iowa. In my public high school of 2,400 students, there were only a handful of Jews. Living in New York for nearly a decade, I frequently visited different communities across the frum spectrum, from Modern Orthodox to Chassidish. I loved observing the cultural variations, and my curiosity led me to learn about many diverse practices and customs.

The following year, while studying abroad in Israel, I continued to explore and meet families spanning the entire country and spectrum of Jewish observance. My curiosity to understand people keeps me open-minded.

As a Clinical Psychologist, I have served as a consultant for the Beis Din of Los Angeles and have spoken at Pesach programs in Arizona and Nevada on various topics, including stress management and dating. I was a scholar in residence at a Simchas Torah Program in California and led one of the most popular sessions at a large annual women’s retreat in Las Vegas for Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform women, where I taught practical work-life strategies to mothers striving to be "superwomen" and do it all.

I feel grateful and honored to bring the breadth of trainings I have immersed in to the Jewish community. I participated in a transformative in-person Anthony Robbins event, and the tools I gained from that experience are a gift I bring to my clients. I have trained under Drs. Julie and John Gottman, top marriage experts in America, and Dr. Ramani Durvasula, one of the world’s leading experts on Narcissistic Abuse. I help my clients identify and heal from this uniquely subtle yet destructive abuse, breaking cycles and generational trauma. I have also participated in trainings led by Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson, experts in neuroplasticity, brain rewiring, and raising children intentionally while teaching emotion regulation techniques.

My work with the Jewish community has been a journey of learning, growth, and profound connection. Each experience, from consulting and speaking engagements to leading retreats, has deepened my understanding and commitment to serving this vibrant, diverse, and dynamic community.

What my clients have to say about working with me:

  • I’ve had the privilege of living, visiting and working in 16 countries. I’ve worked with Therapists in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the U.S. There is no one in the world like Dr. Sheri Bardos. Her emotional intelligence, her heart, her skill, her grit, her gentleness, her intuition are like nothing I’ve ever seen. She is both regal and humble, steady and passionate, vulnerable and courageous. She leads by example, never requiring something of me that she herself hasn’t done. She listens. She hears my words, she hears emotions, she hears tones, she hears the unspoken. She breathes clarity and light where there is confusion and uncertainty. She validates. She motivates. She is one of the most genuine souls I’ve ever met. She has played a vital role in cultivating growth, healing and happiness deep within me and my beautiful family. I recommend her to every human on this planet. Thank you Dr. Bardos! You’re wonderful.

  • Dr Bardos is an AMAZING therapist!! We see her as a couple and sometimes she meets one-on-one with us. She has helped me and my boyfriend become so much closer. We were having a number of issues putting our relationship at risk and Dr. Bardos was our lifeline to learn relationship skills, communication skills, and helped us understand each other. We feel so much closer to each other, more than ever before in our 5 years of knowing each other! I recommend Dr Bardos to all of my friends. She truly cares about her patients and she has be so wonderfully great with explaining and guiding us both as a couple and as individuals. I wish my parents did that better! My boyfriend and I both look forward to our session each week because we always walk out feeling accomplished and closer, even though it takes work- it is absolutely worth it!! She is very dependable and very timely, unlike most doctors around town. If we could give her a 10, we would!

  • (Success story from a former client) A woman reached out to me because her friend told her that I specialized in treating infertility. She and her husband had been trying to conceive for more than a year and were about to embark on a costly journey of medical infertility interventions. The cost would be at least $20,000 and upwards of potentially $40,000 depending on how many steps were needed. She understood the concept that emotional barriers can sometimes block someone from becoming pregnant and wanted to explore whether that was potentially impacting her. She worked with me on believing that she could actually conceive completely naturally. We also addressed how she could see herself actually living as a mother, when so much of her life up until that point was not yet congruent with that wish. Multiple fertility doctors had told her that she would need to undergo medical intervention if she wanted to become a mother, and she had believed them. Through our work, she came to believe she could actually become a mother completely naturally, and she ended up not having any fertility treatments. Today, she has two healthy children. After she gave birth to her first child, she realized that her due date was the exact same date as our first session, only one year later.

  • (Success story from a former client) A man in his 40's came to work with me to treat his anxiety and help him create a healthy long-term romantic relationship. He had never been married. His stress was impacting the health of his body(including digestive issues and joint pain) and also his relationships at work. Over time, he learned and implemented a variety of tools and experienced a significant decrease in anxiety to the point where he felt happier, more relaxed, and monfident. While his health improved, he decided to break out of his comfort zone and try online dating. He knew that one of my specialties was helping people date with clarity to ultimately marry. He asked me to help improve his online profile so that it matched who he truly was and could attract the right kind of match he was seeking. Today, he is happily married, he is feeling healthier, and his business is thriving even more.
