💙 Warm 🥇 Empowering 🎨 Creative 🧘 CalmWhy Sarah Shasho, LCSW chose to be in the helping profession
I’ve always been drawn to the depth of the human experience — the unspoken emotions, the protective patterns, and the quiet resilience people carry within them. What moved me toward the helping profession was a deep respect for the inner lives of others, and a desire to hold space for people to safely explore, understand, and ultimately reconnect with themselves.
Therapy offers a unique opportunity: a space where someone can feel seen without being judged, supported without being rushed, and understood without needing to explain everything. That kind of space can be transformative — and I’m continually humbled by the courage clients show when they step into it.
I chose this work because I believe in people’s ability to heal, grow, and reclaim parts of themselves that may have been hidden or silenced. It’s a profound honor to support that process, and it’s what keeps me committed to this field every single day.
Sarah Shasho, LCSW's approach
My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that healing happens in the context of safety, attunement, and connection. I offer a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can feel deeply seen — not just for what you’re struggling with, but for who you truly are underneath the layers of pain, protection, or self-doubt.
Much of the work I do is rooted in attachment theory and trauma-informed care. I pay close attention to the emotional patterns and survival strategies that were once essential but may no longer serve you. Together, we gently explore those patterns with compassion and curiosity, allowing space for new ways of being to emerge — ways that feel more aligned, empowered, and free.
I use a blend of evidence-based and expressive approaches including EMDR, IFS, somatic work, art and music integration, mindfulness, DBT/CBT tools, and inner child healing. Each session is tailored to your unique pace, goals, and emotional needs — whether that means building regulation skills, processing trauma, shifting internal narratives, or reconnecting with parts of yourself that have felt exiled or forgotten.
I believe therapy isn’t about “fixing” you — it’s about coming home to yourself. Together, we’ll work to strengthen your sense of safety, unravel the old stories that are holding you back, and support you in stepping into the life and relationships you truly want.
What you can expect from sessions with Sarah Shasho, LCSW
You can expect our sessions to feel like a soft landing place — a space where all parts of you are welcome, and where your story is held with deep respect and care. My goal is to create a therapeutic relationship that feels emotionally safe, deeply validating, and real — a place where healing happens not just through insight, but through connection.
While our work will always honor your pace, it’s also an active process. I’ll gently challenge the narratives that no longer serve you, help you recognize the strengths you already carry, and support you in building the kind of internal clarity and self-trust that leads to lasting change.
Depending on your needs, our sessions may include EMDR to process trauma, inner child work to reparent the wounded parts that long for love and safety, or learning how to tune into your emotions and body so you can show up for yourself in more grounded and aligned ways. When words are hard to find, we may turn to creative outlets — like art or music — as a way to express, process, and release what’s inside.
This work is relational, intuitive, and transformative — and together, we’ll create a space where you don’t just cope… you heal, grow, and come home to yourself.
Sarah Shasho, LCSW's experience working with the Jewish community
As a trauma therapist in the Jewish community, I bring both clinical expertise and a deep understanding of the unique cultural and emotional needs of my clients. I currently work at Maayan Academy, a trauma-informed high school where I provide individual therapy to adolescent girls navigating complex trauma, anxiety, attachment wounds, and mood disorders. This work requires a high level of attunement, sensitivity, and presence — and I feel honored to support these young women as they reclaim safety, voice, and connection.
In addition to my work at Maayan, I maintain a private practice where I see clients from a variety of backgrounds within the Jewish community. I’m mindful of the cultural and spiritual layers that shape one’s inner world, and I strive to create a space where clients can explore their experiences openly — whether they want to bring their faith into the room or simply feel seen without having to explain the nuances of their background.
My approach is always warm, nonjudgmental, and grounded in both trauma-informed care and deep cultural respect.
