Being a professional counselor is both a tremendous responsibility and a true privilege. I have deep respect for those who are willing to invest in their personal growth and healing, and I never take for granted the trust it takes to invite someone into that journey. I am constantly investing in continued education so I can bring you the most up to date and evidenced based treatments. Every person comes with a unique story, and I believe they deserve to be met with compassion, and genuine understanding. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to be yourself, knowing you will be met with compassion, and empowered with the tools and motivation you need to move forward in a whole new way.

Showing empathy and validation while being able to focus on goals for a better future is a delicate balance I've worked hard to master. You don't have to carry life's challenges on your own or figure out your next step by yourself. I consider it an honor to walk alongside you, offering support, encouragement, and guidance as you move toward the growth and life you are seeking.

Every person's path is different, so I begin by taking the time to understand where you are coming from and what you are hoping to accomplish. Together, we will identify your goals, explore what may be getting in the way, and how to proceed.

The way we work together will depend on your unique needs and preferences. This may include psychoeducation, skill building, EMDR and other forms of desensitization, parts work, guided drawing, or journaling. My hope is that you leave each session feeling more supported, grounded, and confident in your ability to navigate whatever comes next.

Building trust is an important part of the therapeutic process, and I strive to create an environment where you feel comfortable and secure. My hope is that you leave each meeting with a sense of direction and empowerment.

During your complimentary 15-minute phone consultation, I invite you to share a brief synopsis of what brings you to therapy. This gives me the opportunity to get a sense of your needs and offer an honest assessment of whether it seems I would be a good fit to help you. If I believe I can support you, I will invite you to discuss what working together may look like and answer any questions you may have.

Miriam Rivkin, LPCC's experience working with the Jewish community

I have been working with children, teens, and adults within and beyond the Jewish community for over twenty years. My professional journey began as a camp director and Jewish Studies teacher, where I developed a deep appreciation for supporting others through life's challenges and helping them grow. Those early experiences shaped the way I connect with people today. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with people from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences, and I continue to find this work both meaningful and rewarding. I continue to seek out top level supervision and guidance from some of the most trusted professionals in the field to ensure that I am offering excellent care from informed and well trusted sources.

I returned to school to pursue my goal of becoming a professional counselor after years of focusing most of my attention on my young family. I did so with the encouragement of a local rav with whom I had collaborated on a number of community projects. Today, I devote most of my professional time to my private practice, where I have the privilege of walking alongside clients as they navigate life's challenges and work toward meaningful change. I also continue to teach part time at a local girls' high school. This allows me to stay connected to education and the community that has been such an important part of my life.
