Miriam Rivkin, LPCC's style
🎯 Direct 💙 Warm 💪 ChallengingWhy Miriam Rivkin, LPCC chose to be in the helping profession
Being a professional counselor is, to me, both a tremendous responsibility and a true privilege. I have deep respect for those who are willing to invest in their personal growth and healing, and I never take for granted the trust it takes to invite someone into that journey. Every person comes with a unique story, and I believe they deserve to be met with compassion, curiosity, and genuine understanding. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to be yourself, knowing you will be heard without judgment.
I believe my greatest strength as a counselor is my ability to truly listen, empathize, and understand in a way that helps people feel seen, heard, and validated. Often, simply having someone who is fully present can make the path forward feel less overwhelming. You don't have to carry life's challenges on your own or figure out every next step by yourself. I consider it an honor to walk alongside you, offering support, encouragement, and guidance as you move toward the growth and life you are seeking.
Miriam Rivkin, LPCC's approach
As a therapist, my goal is to help you feel empowered to move forward in the way that feels right for you. Every person's path is different, so I begin by taking the time to understand what moving forward truly means in your life and what you hope to gain from therapy. Together, we will identify your goals, explore what may be getting in the way, and determine how I can best support you. I believe therapy should be a collaborative process where you feel understood, respected, and actively involved every step of the way.
The way we work together will depend on your unique needs and preferences. This may include psychoeducation, skill building, EMDR and other forms of desensitization, parts work, guided drawing or journaling, or simply creating space to be with you through whatever you are experiencing in this moment. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing, and I tailor my work to meet you where you are. My hope is that you leave each session feeling more supported, more connected to yourself, and more confident in your ability to navigate whatever comes next.
What you can expect from sessions with Miriam Rivkin, LPCC
You can expect to be treated with compassion, dignity, and respect from our very first interaction. I believe that everyone deserves a safe, supportive space where they can speak openly without fear of judgment. Building trust is an important part of the therapeutic process, and I strive to create an environment where you feel comfortable being yourself. My hope is that you leave each conversation feeling heard, understood, and supported.
During your complimentary 15-minute phone consultation, I invite you to share a brief synopsis of what brings you to therapy. This gives me the opportunity to get a sense of your needs and offer an honest assessment of whether it seems I would be a good fit to help you. If I believe I can support you, we'll discuss what working together may look like and answer any questions you have. If I don't feel I'm the right fit, I'll be honest about that as well, because finding the right therapist is one of the most important parts of beginning your journey.
Miriam Rivkin, LPCC's experience working with the Jewish community
I have been working with children, teens, and adults within and beyond the Jewish community for over twenty years. My professional journey began as a camp director and Jewish Studies teacher, where I developed a deep appreciation for supporting others through life's challenges and helping them grow. Those early experiences shaped the way I connect with people today, emphasizing compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to understand each individual's unique story. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with people from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences, and I continue to find this work both meaningful and rewarding.
When my family responsibilities allowed, I returned to school to pursue my goal of becoming a professional counselor. I did so with the encouragement of a local rabbi with whom I had collaborated on a number of community projects, and that support helped inspire this next chapter of my career. Today, I devote most of my professional time to my private practice, where I have the privilege of walking alongside clients as they navigate life's challenges and work toward meaningful change. I also continue to teach part time at a local girls' high school, allowing me to stay connected to education and the community that has been such an important part of my life.
