Why Juli Teitler, MPS, LCAT, ATR-BC chose to be in the helping profession

I chose to be in the helping profession because I am deeply drawn to supporting people through meaningful change. I have a strong passion for integrating creativity into the healing process, especially in moments when emotions feel difficult to put into words or fully understand. Creative approaches often open doors to insight and expression that feel more natural and accessible. I also bring a steady, grounded presence to the work, helping clients feel supported as they begin to make sense of their experiences.

Alongside this, I naturally focus on finding solutions and helping clients build practical tools they can use in their daily lives. I believe therapy should feel both compassionate and useful, offering space for reflection while also supporting forward movement. Empathy, warmth, and steady support are central to how I work and how I show up for my clients. My goal is always to help people feel genuinely understood while moving forward with greater clarity, confidence, and a sense of direction.

Juli Teitler, MPS, LCAT, ATR-BC's approach

My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative, with a strong focus on creating a space that feels both supportive and grounded. I bring structure and practical tools into sessions while also making room for emotion, reflection, and real human connection. I believe therapy works best when clients feel actively involved in the process rather than talked at or rushed along. The work is meant to feel steady, intentional, and responsive to what you need in the moment.

I use evidence based approaches such as CBT and ACT to help clients understand patterns, build awareness, and make meaningful, lasting change. When helpful, I also incorporate creativity and mind body awareness to deepen insight or access feelings that are hard to reach through words alone. I bring a sense of humor into the room and value authenticity in the therapeutic relationship. My goal is for therapy to feel human, grounding, and empowering, while supporting clients in moving forward with clarity and confidence.

What you can expect from sessions with Juli Teitler, MPS, LCAT, ATR-BC

You can expect a supportive space that is also honest, focused, and productive. We will set clear goals together and revisit them over time so progress feels visible and meaningful. Sessions include practical strategies, thoughtful reflection, and skill building that you can apply in real life, not just in the therapy room. I aim to create an environment where you feel both supported and gently challenged in ways that help you grow.

I offer direct feedback, steady encouragement, and a sense of humor when it feels appropriate, because the work should feel human and real. Therapy with me is collaborative and intentional, with an emphasis on helping you stay grounded while moving forward. My goal is for you to leave each session with more clarity, emotional steadiness, and concrete next steps you can take between sessions.

Juli Teitler, MPS, LCAT, ATR-BC's experience working with the Jewish community

I’m Israeli and currently work with a wide range of Jewish clients across different levels of observance. I have experience supporting members of the Syrian Jewish community in Deal, New Jersey, and I understand how important cultural and community context is in the therapeutic process. I work with both practicing and non-practicing Jewish individuals, and I approach each person with openness, respect, and a willingness to meet them where they are. For me, the goal is to create a space where your identity and values are not just acknowledged, but truly integrated into the work.

I believe strongly in cultural competence and in tailoring therapy to the client’s identity, traditions, and lived experience. This means paying attention to how community norms, family expectations, and religious practices shape your thoughts, emotions, and relationships. I aim to offer support that feels both clinically grounded and culturally attuned, so you can feel understood on a deeper level. My hope is to help you move forward in a way that feels aligned with who you are and what matters most to you.

Juli Teitler, MPS, LCAT, ATR-BC's Book Recommendation Zone

  • Water Moon by Samantha Sotto
A dreamy, magical-realism novel about a mysterious shop where people can sell their regrets. When a young woman inherits the shop, she’s pulled into a surreal world of bargains, hidden secrets, and emotional reckonings. It’s atmospheric, imaginative, and gently reflective — a story about memory, loss, and what we choose to hold onto or let go.
  • The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron
A classic creativity-and-self-growth book designed to help you reconnect with your creative voice and move through inner blocks like perfectionism, self-doubt, and fear. It’s structured as a 12-week program with simple weekly exercises, including the well-known ā€œmorning pagesā€ (daily stream-of-consciousness writing) and ā€œartist datesā€ (solo time to refuel inspiration). The tone is supportive and practical, and many people find it helps reduce creative paralysis while building confidence and emotional clarity.
  • The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk
A landmark book on trauma and how it affects both the brain and the body. It explains why traumatic experiences can show up as anxiety, hypervigilance, numbness, and physical symptoms long after the event has passed. The book also explores evidence-based healing approaches, including somatic work, mindfulness, EMDR, and other trauma-informed treatments. It’s a powerful, accessible read for understanding how recovery involves both mind and body.
