Shira Katz, LCPC's style
💙 Warm 👂 Listener 🙌 Affirming 🌎 HolisticWhy Shira Katz, LCPC chose to be in the helping profession
Before becoming a therapist, I explored many different career paths and noticed a clear theme running through each one: a deep desire to help people. That was always the part that lit me up most. I have long been drawn to real, meaningful connections, the kind that move beyond small talk and into the heart of someone’s fears, hopes, and dreams. Therapy felt like a natural calling because it gives space for those beautiful, vulnerable conversations to unfold, where people can feel truly seen and heard.
Choosing this path has allowed me to combine my intuition, compassion, and skills with my passion for supporting others. Every day I get to walk alongside people on their journeys, offering both support and hope. For me, one of the greatest gifts of this work is helping someone recognize the light within themselves and believe that change is possible. Being able to witness growth, resilience, and healing in others is not just meaningful; it is the reason I feel called to do this work.
Shira Katz, LCPC's approach
I see the inner child within each person, the part that longs to be seen, loved, and accepted, and my hope is to help you connect with that part of yourself, too. I approach therapy as both a place of healing and discovery, where past wounds can be addressed, grief can be honored, and new possibilities can emerge. In our work together, you will be supported in exploring the deep, shadowed corners of your experience, learning to sit with difficult emotions and gently face the parts you may have hidden away. This is where true growth begins, as you reconnect with your authentic self and start reparenting the parts of you that need care, compassion, and new ways of being.
Through this process, you can work to untangle old attachment patterns, process trauma, and slowly rebuild a future that feels both grounded and hopeful. My approach is integrative and holistic, drawing from EMDR, attachment and inner child work, sandtray, mindfulness, somatic practices, and expressive therapies. By weaving these modalities together, I aim to support healing on every level—mind, body, and spirit. Above all, my goal is to provide a safe and comfortable space where you can cultivate self-understanding, grow in self-compassion, and develop the tools you need to live with greater peace, wholeness, and authenticity.
What you can expect from sessions with Shira Katz, LCPC
My sessions are integrative and holistic, which means no two look exactly the same. Each one is shaped by your unique needs in the moment. We usually begin with a check-in, and from there the work may unfold through conversation, sometimes weaving in inner child themes, exploring patterns and emotions, or incorporating expressive approaches. Depending on what feels most supportive, I bring in different modalities that help you move beneath the surface and create meaningful shifts in both mind and body.
Whether we are meeting in person or virtually, the same level of care, presence, and depth is always possible. I adapt each tool to fit the setting so you can feel supported no matter where you are. The process is collaborative, guided by your inner wisdom and intuition alongside my therapeutic tools. Together, we create a space for healing, growth, and deeper self-connection, with the goal of helping you feel more at home in yourself and more hopeful about what lies ahead.
Shira Katz, LCPC's experience working with the Jewish community
Growing up in an Orthodox Jewish community gave me firsthand insight into the unique challenges and complexities people in the community face. I understand the nuances, struggles, and strengths that often show up in Jewish communities, and I bring this awareness into my clinical work. Over the years, I have supported clients across the full spectrum—from those who are not religious, to those who are deeply observant and everyone in between. This range of experience has allowed me to approach each person with cultural sensitivity while also recognizing that every individual’s story is their own.
I also have experience working with those who are questioning or exploring their beliefs, who may have stepped away from religion, or who present outwardly as religious but are no longer practicing internally. No matter where someone finds themselves, I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where they can bring their whole self to therapy. My goal is to honor each individual’s values and worldview with respect, while supporting them in uncovering their truth, navigating their struggles, and finding a sense of peace and authenticity within their own journey.
