Why Chaya Goldstein, LMHC chose to be in the helping profession

I’ve always been someone who thinks a little differently. I’m naturally open-minded, intuitive, and curious, with a deep pull toward understanding people beyond what’s on the surface. From a young age, I found myself drawn to psychology, wanting to make sense of how we think, feel, and experience the world around us. Alongside that curiosity, there has always been a quiet but steady inclination within me to care for others and to be someone they could turn to.

My path into therapy wasn’t something I chose overnight. It unfolded in a way that felt organic and true to who I am. While working as a teacher, I became the one who noticed what often went unspoken, the one who could sense when something deeper was going on beneath the surface. Many girls were struggling silently, and I found that I was the person they felt safe opening up to, someone who would truly listen and hold space without judgment.

Over time, it became clear that I was being called to support them in a deeper and more meaningful way. I didn’t want to only be part of their education. I wanted to be part of their healing, to meet them in those quieter, more vulnerable places that often go unseen. That realization guided me toward this work in a way that felt both natural and deeply aligned.

Today, that same intention continues to guide how I show up. I strive to create a space where you can feel seen, supported, and truly understood, without pressure or expectation. A space where change doesn’t have to be forced, and where you’re given the room to slow down, explore, and gently return to yourself in your own time.

Chaya Goldstein, LMHC's approach

My approach to therapy is person-centered, trauma-informed, and strengths-based, grounded in a psychodynamic understanding and guided by a deep respect for your unique experience. I draw from both psychodynamic and behavioral perspectives, weaving in other modalities as needed, always with care and intention. Rather than following a rigid structure, I tailor each session to you, your needs, your circumstances, and what feels most important in the moment. I believe therapy should feel personal and responsive, not one-size-fits-all.

I work gently and intuitively, creating a space where you can feel truly seen, safe, and supported. I meet you exactly where you are, honoring your pace and your process without pushing or rushing. There is a deep value in allowing things to unfold naturally, in their own time, and I trust that meaningful change doesn’t need to be forced. Instead, it grows מתוך feeling understood, held, and given the space to breathe.

Together, we focus on slowing down and building awareness, learning how to notice what’s happening within you without judgment. From there, we begin to reconnect with your inner sense of balance and clarity. Our work is collaborative and responsive, integrating tools and techniques that support you in the moment while also deepening insight and understanding. Over time, this process supports nervous system regulation, emotional integration, and growth that feels steady, meaningful, and lasting.

What you can expect from sessions with Chaya Goldstein, LMHC

In our sessions, you can expect to be truly heard and deeply understood. I offer a space of genuine connection, where you can feel safe, supported, and free from judgment, a place where you don’t have to filter or hold things in. My intention is for you to feel comfortable showing up as you are, knowing that everything you bring is welcome. From the very beginning, I focus on creating an environment where trust can build naturally and where you feel held in the process.

Together, we’ll gently explore what’s happening beneath the surface, bringing curiosity and care to your thoughts, emotions, and patterns. Rather than rushing to fix or change anything, we take the time to understand, allowing insight to develop in a way that feels meaningful and grounded. Our work moves at your pace, giving you the space to process in a way that feels natural and supportive. I believe that when you’re given that kind of space, clarity begins to emerge on its own.

Along the way, I integrate supportive techniques that are tailored to you in each moment, always with your needs and goals in mind. This is a collaborative process, where we work together in a way that feels balanced and responsive. Over time, this work can help you feel more steady, more clear, and more connected to yourself. The goal isn’t just change, but change that feels aligned, sustainable, and true to who you are.

Chaya Goldstein, LMHC's experience working with the Jewish community

I have experience working within the Jewish community, offering support that is culturally sensitive and attuned to the values and nuances that shape people’s lives. I work with individuals across the full spectrum of observance, meeting each person with respect for their background, identity, and lived experience. Alongside this, I also work with clients from diverse backgrounds, bringing the same level of openness, curiosity, and care to each person I meet.

I run art therapy groups within our communities, creating a space where people can express, process, and connect in a way that feels natural and accessible. These groups offer an opportunity to explore emotions through creativity, while also experiencing a sense of shared understanding and support. Whether in a group or individual setting, the focus remains on providing a grounded, supportive environment where meaningful connection can develop.

My work includes helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, panic attacks, as well as challenges related to self-esteem, relationship dynamics, life transitions, and post-traumatic experiences. I understand that many struggles are carried quietly, and that reaching out can feel complex or even overwhelming at times. My intention is to create a space that feels safe, respectful, and aligned with your background, where you can explore your experiences openly and without judgment, both individually and within a group setting.
