Mendel Toron, LCSW's style
🎯 Direct 💙 Warm 💡 Solution-oriented 🥇 EmpoweringWhy Mendel Toron, LCSW chose to be in the helping profession
I chose to be in the helping profession after going through my own healing process. As someone who is highly sensitive, I struggled during the earlier part of my life and often did not know where to place my anxiety. I identified with it and blamed myself for many of the challenges I was experiencing, rather than understanding what was underneath them. It was through therapy that I was finally able to properly explore myself beyond my symptoms and begin to understand my inner world in a different way.
That experience was immensely helpful for me, and it showed me how powerful it can be to have someone help you make sense of what you are experiencing. I was able to move beyond simply identifying with my anxiety and start looking at what was really happening underneath it. Going through that process made me want to give that same gift to others. I wanted to create a space where people could explore themselves more deeply, feel understood, and begin to heal without having to blame themselves for what they are going through.
Mendel Toron, LCSW's approach
Through my work with clients, I began to notice a trend. While traditional talk therapy can be helpful, there often comes a point where people feel stuck in the same patterns, beliefs, and ways of responding, and struggle to move past them. They may understand intellectually why they feel or behave a certain way, but understanding alone does not always create the change they are looking for. When clients were introduced to approaches such as EMDR, IFS, psychodynamic, and somatic therapy, I found that they were often able to experience deeper results and make faster progress.
These approaches allow us to work with what is happening underneath the surface rather than only talking about the problem. They give us different tools to explore the thoughts, emotions, experiences, and patterns that may be keeping someone stuck. I have found that when clients are able to experience the work in this way, therapy can become more active and meaningful. Rather than simply talking about what is happening, we can begin to work with it directly and create movement toward lasting change.
What you can expect from sessions with Mendel Toron, LCSW
Therapy sessions with me are experiential. This means therapy is dynamic, focused, and always moving toward a shared goal. In experiential work, whether we are using EMDR, IFS, or Jungian/Analytic therapy, the healing is found in the therapeutic process itself. Both myself and the client play a more active role in the process than in traditional talk therapy. Working together, we use the tools that are most appropriate for you to help accelerate the treatment process and create meaningful movement.
As an EMDR specialist and EMDR-Certified therapist, as well as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), my focus is on using the tools I have within the therapeutic relationship to support healing. I take a trauma-informed approach to understanding and conceptualizing the issues that are present, while also looking beyond the symptoms themselves. Rather than only addressing what is showing up on the surface, we work to understand where these patterns and symptoms come from and address them at their root. My goal is to help you feel more connected to yourself while creating real movement in the areas where you may feel stuck.
Mendel Toron, LCSW's experience working with the Jewish community
Growing up in the Orthodox Jewish community has given me personal insight into both the pros and cons of the systems we grow up in, as well as the generational trauma that can be passed down. I know what it can feel like not to receive the proper emotional support or to feel trapped in unhealthy shame. These experiences have shaped the way I understand the importance of creating a space where people can be honest about what they are experiencing without feeling judged or misunderstood. I recognize that there can be unique challenges that come with navigating mental health within the Jewish community.
My professional background includes working as a counselor at Jewish Community Services and Ohel Family Services, where I provided trauma-informed therapy and education. Through this work, I collaborated with leadership in the Jewish community and worked directly with individuals and families who were impacted by these challenges. This gave me firsthand knowledge of the experiences and dynamics that can affect people within our community. In private practice, my focus has been on helping adults, teens, and couples in the Jewish community heal from trauma and develop a deeper understanding of themselves.

Mendel is an outstanding clinician, what makes him truly amazing is he listens and makes people feel safe seen and heard. Too often these days therapists want to hear themselves speak and end up hurting their clients. I would refer my children to Mendel, I cant think of a higher compliment
