🎯 Direct 💙 Warm 💡 Solution-oriented 🥇 EmpoweringWhy Mendel Toron, LCSW chose to be in the helping profession
I chose to be in the helping profession after my own healing process. As someone highly sensitive, I struggled with anxiety in the earlier part of my life. Not knowing where to place my anxiety, I identified with it and blamed myself for those challenges. It was in therapy where I was able to properly explore myself and understand my symptoms. I found that experience immensely helpful and wanted to give that gift to others.
Mendel Toron, LCSW's approach
With my work with clients, I found a trend. While traditional talk therapy was helpful, at a certain point people felt stuck in the same patterns and beliefs, and struggled to move past them. When they were introduced to EMDR, IFS, psychodynamic, and somatic therapy, they saw faster results and deeper progress. This helped them commit and feel invested in their therapeutic process.
What you can expect from sessions with Mendel Toron, LCSW
Therapy sessions with me are experiential. This means therapy is dynamic and focused with movement towards a shared goal. In experiential work whether we use EMDR, IFS, or Jungian/Analytic therapy, the healing is in the therapeutic process itself. With this, myself and the client play a more of an active role in the process vs traditional talk therapy. Working together with you, we use the tools to accelerate the treatment process.
As an EMDR specialist (EMDR-Certified) and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) my focus is on using the tools I have in the therapeutic relationship to provide healing. This trauma-informed lens helps to conceptualize and address the issues present, and address the symptoms at their root.
Mendel Toron, LCSW's experience working with the Jewish community
Growing up in the Orthodox Jewish community, I have personal insight into the pros and cons of the systems and generational trauma we inherited. I know what it feels like not to receive the proper emotional support or feel trapped in unhealthy shame.
My professional background as a counselor at the Jewish Community Services and Ohel Family Services, I provided trauma-informed therapy and education. Working with leadership in the Jewish community and those impacted, I gained first hand knowledge into the unique challenges of our community.
In private practice, my focus has been on helping adults, teens, and couples in the Jewish community heal from trauma.

Mendel is an outstanding clinician, what makes him truly amazing is he listens and makes people feel safe seen and heard. Too often these days therapists want to hear themselves speak and end up hurting their clients. I would refer my children to Mendel, I cant think of a higher compliment

Mendel’s thoughtfulness and knowledge of the mental health space is truly above and beyond anything I’ve experienced before. He cares deeply about the well-being of his clients by providing the proper tools and resources necessary for each individual’s journey. I have had experiences in the past with mental health professionals which have left me feeling discouraged, but Mendel is intentional about discovering what works in so many different scenarios. I could not recommend him enough!
