💪 Challenging 🧘 Calm 🤝 CollaborativeWhy Eli Press, LCSW chose to be in the helping profession
Every person has a unique story, shaped by their experiences, relationships, successes, and challenges. What drew me to the helping profession was a genuine curiosity about how those pieces fit together and influence the way we see ourselves, relate to others, and navigate the world around us. I believe that our experiences shape us in important ways, but they do not have to define where we go next. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable exploring your story with honesty, curiosity, and without judgment.
Many people come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or frustrated because they know something isn't working, but they can't quite identify why. One of the most rewarding parts of this work is helping people connect the dots, recognize patterns, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves. Therapy is a collaborative process where we work together to make sense of what has happened, understand how it continues to affect the present, and identify practical ways to move forward. As we work through the puzzle together, my hope is that you will gain greater confidence, develop healthier ways of coping, and build a life that feels more aligned with your values, goals, and the person you want to become. Watching people discover their strengths, create meaningful change, and experience lasting growth is what makes this work so meaningful to me.
Eli Press, LCSW's approach
My approach to therapy begins with getting to know you as a whole person, not just the challenges that brought you through the door. Together, we'll explore your current concerns, relationships, past experiences, personal strengths, and the everyday realities that shape your well-being. I believe that understanding the full picture helps us make sense of where you are today and creates a strong foundation for meaningful, lasting growth. My goal is to meet you where you are and tailor the therapeutic process to your unique needs and experiences.
When life feels overwhelming, I believe it's important to first build a greater sense of stability and balance so that deeper work can be both manageable and effective. As therapy progresses, we'll identify patterns, gain insight into how past experiences may be influencing the present, and develop a clearer understanding of what may be keeping you stuck. I strive to provide a supportive, compassionate, and validating environment where you feel heard, understood, and comfortable being yourself. At the same time, therapy is about more than insight alone. It's about creating meaningful change. Using practical therapeutic tools and strategies, we'll work together to help you navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and move toward a life that feels more fulfilling, intentional, and aligned with your values.
What you can expect from sessions with Eli Press, LCSW
Therapy is a collaborative process, and I believe each session should be guided by your unique needs, goals, and where you are in that moment. You can expect a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you have the space to speak openly and honestly about what's on your mind. Whether you're facing a specific challenge or trying to better understand yourself, we'll work together at a pace that feels comfortable while keeping your goals in focus. My priority is to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported throughout the process.
Some sessions may focus on navigating immediate stressors or finding practical solutions to current challenges, while others may explore deeper patterns, past experiences, and relationships that continue to influence your life today. I tend to be an active therapist, offering feedback, asking thoughtful questions, and helping you consider new perspectives rather than simply listening from the sidelines. Together, we'll work to better understand your experiences, build on your strengths, and develop practical strategies that support meaningful and lasting change. My hope is that you'll leave each session feeling understood, encouraged, and equipped with new insights and tools to help you move forward with greater confidence.
Eli Press, LCSW's experience working with the Jewish community
My work within the Jewish community has given me the opportunity to connect with people across a wide range of backgrounds and levels of observance. I have worked in multiple settings, including providing therapeutic services at a modern Orthodox school, where I gained a deeper understanding of the unique experiences, values, and challenges that can arise within Jewish communities. In addition to my clinical work, I am an EMT with Hatzolah and am very involved in my own community's shul, which has allowed me to build meaningful relationships and stay connected to the community in different ways.
I understand that every person's relationship with Judaism and their Jewish identity is unique. Whether you are deeply connected to your traditions, exploring your identity, or somewhere in between, I strive to meet you where you are with respect, openness, and understanding. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable bringing your full self into the room, knowing that your background and experiences will be heard and valued. No matter what your Jewish roots are, I will do my best to listen, understand your perspective, and support you on your journey.

I enjoy how it challenges the idea that success is purely about individual talent and explores the many factors that shape people's lives and opportunities. It aligns with my interest in understanding the broader context of a person's story. - Drive by Daniel Pink
This book offers a fascinating look at what truly motivates people and how purpose, autonomy, and mastery influence behavior. It has shaped the way I think about personal growth and meaningful change. - Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
Beyond being an engaging psychological thriller, I appreciate stories that explore the complexity of human behavior and remind us that there is often much more beneath the surface than we initially see.
