💙 Warm 🥇 Empowering 🎨 Creative 🐣 Out of the boxWhy Devorah Leah Knobloch, LMSW chose to be in the helping profession
Many people move through life on autopilot, consumed by endless tasks and responsibilities. They rarely stop to consider that it’s possible to slow down, be more mindful, and still accomplish everything they need to do. From a young age, I noticed a stark difference between those who seemed stuck in robotic routines and those who paused to appreciate the beauty around them. The latter group not only appeared happier but also managed to achieve just as much—if not more—without losing their sense of aliveness.
This realization inspired me to pursue a career in the helping profession. I wanted to guide individuals toward a life where they could grant themselves permission to slow down, feel their emotions, and truly live. For many, acknowledging and processing emotions is deeply challenging, often because they were never taught how to do so as children. Therapy offers a space to uncover these hidden feelings and to confront the unmet expectations or longings tied to one’s family of origin.
A significant number of people seek therapy because of the way they believe their lives *should have been*—especially in relation to their childhood and upbringing. My role is to walk alongside them on their unique journey, helping them mourn what they didn’t have or what they wish had been different. Together, we work through the process of accepting their reality, which ultimately opens the door to living a more meaningful and fulfilled life.
The book *Running on Empty* by Dr. Jonice Webb profoundly shaped my understanding of this work. It highlights how acknowledging the gaps in one’s childhood can lead to profound healing. While this process is rarely easy, it’s transformative. With time and self-awareness, individuals can develop greater insight into their emotions and reactions, allowing them to engage with the world from a place of clarity and wholeness.
Devorah Leah Knobloch, LMSW's approach
I believe every individual is the expert on their own life. With that in mind, I take a client-centered approach, allowing you to guide the direction of therapy in the way you feel will be most helpful. For some, starting therapy can feel daunting and unfamiliar. For others, it’s a return to a process they’ve experienced before, where they simply want the space to fully be themselves. Wherever you are on your journey, my priority is to create a space where you feel as comfortable and supported as possible.
Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. I tailor each session to align with what resonates most with you, collaborating with you to identify and work toward your unique goals. As the expert on your own experiences, you hold the key to understanding what you need to live a more fulfilling life. My role is to help you uncover and navigate those needs while providing guidance and tools along the way.
Ultimately, my goal as a therapist is to help you cultivate greater self-awareness and clarity about what brings meaning to your life. Together, we work toward helping you identify what you want, understand your needs, and express them confidently to others in a way that fosters respect and connection.
What you can expect from sessions with Devorah Leah Knobloch, LMSW
My sessions are a collaborative process where you take the lead, guided by a client-centered approach that ensures you feel valued, seen, heard, and understood. I aim to create a safe and supportive space where we can explore your experiences and challenges together.
I approach therapy through an attachment-based lens, which helps me understand how you relate to yourself and the world around you. This perspective is foundational because our attachment styles shape our connections with others—whether in our family of origin, friendships, or intimate relationships. By gaining insight into your attachment patterns, we can better understand the dynamics of your relationships and how they impact your emotional well-being.
In our work together, I integrate several therapeutic frameworks to address your unique needs:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): This approach helps clarify your core values and explore how to live a life aligned with what truly matters to you.
Internal Family Systems (IFS): By exploring the different parts of yourself that emerge during our sessions, I support you in connecting with your Self—your innermost, authentic core—to foster healing and growth.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): I incorporate DBT skills to help you cultivate mindfulness, strengthen relationships, and develop the ability to regulate your emotions with greater ease.
Together, we will focus on helping you live a more mindful, meaningful life, deepen your connections with others, and give yourself permission to recognize, understand, and effectively manage your emotions. My goal is to support you in discovering the tools and insights you need to navigate your journey with clarity and confidence.
Devorah Leah Knobloch, LMSW's experience working with the Jewish community
As an Orthodox Jew, I deeply understand the unique nuances and challenges faced within the Jewish community. This perspective allows me to approach my work with cultural sensitivity and empathy, creating a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to explore their emotions and experiences.
I am committed to helping members of the Jewish community access the support they need without shame or fear of judgment. For many, religion and spirituality serve as a vital guide in navigating life’s complexities. If you’re comfortable, I welcome conversations about how these elements influence your journey and how they can be integrated into our sessions in a meaningful way.
My goal is to support you in finding clarity, healing, and growth while honoring the values and traditions that are important to you.
