YD Goldstein, PhD's style
š” Solution-oriented š§ Calm š¤ CollaborativeWhy YD Goldstein, PhD chose to be in the helping profession
Mental health is important, full stop. Growing up I have seen people, ranging from teens to older adult, struggle with serious mental health issues such as severe anxiety, major depression, borderline personality disorder, PTSD, and wanted to help. This eventually let me to pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Hofstra University and being in involved with mental health related initiatives and conversations related to the Jewish community more broadly.
YD Goldstein, PhD's approach
At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship. I focus on building trust, collaborating to define meaningful goals, and creating practical steps to achieve them. I also work with parents, schools, and other professionals, as needed with consent, to ensure clients have support across all areas of life. My treatment approach emphasizes approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), while remaining flexible to fit each personās needs. I stay current on the latest research and make sure that is reflected in my practice.
What you can expect from sessions with YD Goldstein, PhD
Our first contact is a brief conversation so I can understand what brings you to therapy and what you hope to address. From there, weāll schedule our initial session or, if needed, I can provide a referral to ensure the best fit. Our first session is generally 60 minutes and involves understanding your current issue and clarifying your goals. Following the initial evaluation, 45 or 60 minutes sessions may be scheduled once or twice a week based on the goals you have identified. Therapy can take place in-person at my Highland Park, NJ office or via telehealth. The overarching goal is building a life aligned with your values.
YD Goldstein, PhD's experience working with the Jewish community
I have been working with the Jewish community for over a decade. I began as a volunteer with working with individual who had intellectual and developmental disabilities and difficulties prior to my formal clinical training, where I learned firsthand what it means to show up for individuals and families with care, patience, and respect. My involvement expanded into community outreach for Jewish individuals with disabilities across New York and New Jersey. During that time, I organized and led shabbatonim and other programs that brought people together in ways that were both supportive and empowering. Additionally, I work with the Jewish community as a psychologist and see first hand the struggles faced by individuals across ages and stages - from teens to successful business professionals.
I currently serve as a clinical supervisor for Yachad Summer Programs.
