Why Perel Goldstein, LMHC chose to be in the helping profession

I’ve always been deeply drawn to people and their stories, especially within the context of their inner worlds and closest relationships. Even from a young age, I found myself captivated by the family dynamics of my friends, extended family, and, of course, my own. I would observe those around me with genuine curiosity and a natural sense of acceptance, never judgment. Over time, I realized how that way of seeing others enriched and strengthened my personal relationships, creating more depth, understanding, and connection.

That pull toward understanding others and holding space for their experiences has only grown stronger. I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to bring this lens into my work as a therapist, to help people navigate their inner landscapes and relational challenges from a place of compassion and insight. It truly feels like a sacred honor to be let in by others, to witness their growth, and to walk alongside them as they make sense of their pain and move toward healing.

Perel Goldstein, LMHC's approach

I bring an empathic and gentle presence to my work with individuals and families navigating a wide range of life transitions and adversities. At the heart of my approach is a deep respect for the therapeutic relationship—I believe it is the cornerstone of meaningful work in therapy. Building that connection with each client creates a safe and grounded foundation from which healing and growth can emerge.

I’m especially drawn to working with people who are seeking to understand themselves more fully, process their experiences, heal from past wounds, and move forward in life with greater clarity and intention. I value the collaborative nature of therapy and consider it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they do this courageous work.

My perspective is deeply informed by an attachment lens—I understand people and their challenges within the context of their relationships, both past and present. I believe that healing happens in the spaces where we feel most deeply seen and valued—whether within our relationships with others or in the way we come to relate to ourselves.

What you can expect from sessions with Perel Goldstein, LMHC

Each session—and each phase of our therapeutic relationship—may look a little different, depending on your evolving needs. My goal is to hold a thoughtful and attuned balance: actively listening, supporting, validating, and being present with you, while also gently guiding you toward deeper emotional insight, challenging unhelpful thoughts or beliefs, and exploring questions around self-development and relationship dynamics.

I often “freeze-frame” moments during our conversations, slowing things down to help untangle and make sense of your experiences. This process allows us to better understand how certain moments in your life unfold and how you tend to respond to them. Sometimes I’ll come into a session with a plan based on our previous work, and other times, you’ll bring in what’s most pressing—and we’ll go with that.

Above all, I want you to feel empowered in this space. I hope you come to know yourself in a deeper, more meaningful way. I also acknowledge that therapy is rarely a linear or tidy process—real growth can be disruptive, uncomfortable, even messy at times. And that’s okay. We’ll navigate it together.

Perel Goldstein, LMHC's experience working with the Jewish community

It is truly a privilege to work within my own community and to continually deepen my understanding and respect for the wide range of traditions, circles, and cultures that exist within Judaism. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with individuals across the full spectrum of observance and from many different sub-communities.

Thanks to my own multi-subcultural upbringing—shaped by both my family and the diverse community I was raised in—I bring a nuanced and sensitive awareness to the religious and cultural complexities my clients navigate. I am especially passionate about supporting those dealing with issues related to spirituality, “religious trauma,” and the evolving challenges our communities face today.

What continues to move me is the interplay between the universality of emotional struggles and the deeply personal ways that religion and culture shape our experiences. I strive to create a space where both can be honored—where clients can explore their inner world without needing to explain the basics of their background, and where growth feels both personal and culturally grounded.
