Mindy Friedman, LCSW's style
💙 Warm 🙌 Affirming 💭 Open minded 🤝 CollaborativeWhy Mindy Friedman, LCSW chose to be in the helping profession
While the simple answer might be that I chose this work because I want to help people, the truth runs much deeper than that. There are many ways to offer help in the world. Some people build businesses or create products that meet important needs, and there is tremendous value in that. For me, though, the pull toward becoming a therapist came from a very personal and profound love for humanity and a genuine desire to understand what makes each person who they are.
I am motivated by the longing to form real, meaningful connections with the people I work with. I want to explore the layers of human nature, to see and appreciate each person in their individuality, and to offer support that feels authentic and grounded. My goal is not to hand out quick answers, but to help people navigate their own inner world and find clarity in their own way. More than anything, I feel committed to empowering others to discover their own strength and to guide themselves toward the growth and healing they are seeking.
Mindy Friedman, LCSW's approach
In my practice, I work from a holistic, collaborative, and non-pathologizing lens. I am grounded in an attachment perspective, which means I look at each person within the full context of their life and relationships. My goal is to hold a view that is both spacious and precise, taking into account the many interconnected parts of an individual’s experiences. I want therapy to feel like a place where all of you is welcome, not just the parts that are struggling or seeking change.
A central part of my approach is being trauma informed and integrating modalities that support healing from multiple angles. My work blends psychodynamic and relational perspectives with Internal Family Systems, expressive methods such as arts and sand tray, and cognitive-behavioral tools when they are useful. I believe that doing this work well requires continuous personal growth, so I hold myself accountable by engaging in my own therapy, supervision, and ongoing training. This helps me understand my own patterns and challenges so I can show up with an authentic, grounded Self in the room. My hope is that this mirrors and supports your process as you begin uncovering and understanding your own inner world in a way that feels empowering and honest.
What you can expect from sessions with Mindy Friedman, LCSW
During our sessions, you can expect me to show up fully and with genuine presence. I will listen closely and work to understand how you move through the world, taking in both your words and the meaning behind them. Together, we will explore your goals, aspirations, and dreams in a way that feels rooted in your personal story and lived experience. Our conversations will be a space where you can slow down, reflect, and begin to see your inner world with more clarity.
I will stay attentive not only to what you share but also to the dynamics that unfold between us, including how you experience yourself in our work together. As I get to know you more deeply, my approach will naturally shift to match your needs and support your growth. Over time, it is common for people to notice changes such as greater self-awareness, more compassion toward themselves, and a stronger sense of grounding and wholeness. My hope is that our collaborative journey offers you meaningful insight and opens the door to a more authentic, connected, and fulfilling way of being.
Mindy Friedman, LCSW's experience working with the Jewish community
As a Jewish woman, my work has naturally grown within the Jewish community, reflecting both a deep appreciation for my heritage and a sense of responsibility toward it. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with clients from many different backgrounds and levels of observance. Each person brings their own story, struggles, and strengths, and it has been meaningful to accompany individuals as they navigate their experiences within the broader framework of Jewish life. This connection to my roots informs my work in a way that feels both personal and purposeful.
One area that feels especially significant to me is supporting clients who have experienced abuse or neglect that became tangled with their religious identity. Helping someone rediscover or reclaim a sense of belonging within Yiddishkeit is delicate, important work, and it aligns deeply with my commitment to walking with people as they find their own path toward healing and self-understanding. A large part of my experience has been within the Chasidic community, where I have been grateful to receive feedback that my approach feels culturally competent, supportive, and safe. I recognize the unique nuances and challenges that can arise in this setting, and I strive to create an environment that honors those sensitivities while fostering trust and genuine connection. My hope is to contribute in a meaningful way to the well-being and resilience of individuals across the Jewish community as they move through the intersections of faith, culture, and personal growth.
