Why Jonathan Rosenbloom, LCSW chose to be in the helping profession

I chose to be in a helping profession because I understand what it’s like to face change, uncertainty, and emotions that can feel overwhelming. Life inevitably brings moments that test us, and during those times it’s easy to feel isolated or unsure of how to move forward. I also know how transformative it can be to have someone in your corner—someone who listens without judgment, understands what you’re going through, and reminds you that you’re not alone in it. That kind of support can make a world of difference when everything feels heavy or unclear.

Through my own experiences of navigating hardship, I’ve come to see the incredible impact that genuine connection, guidance, and encouragement can have. Healing doesn’t mean having all the answers—it means having a safe space where you feel seen, heard, and supported as you find your way. As common as struggle is, no one should have to face it alone. That’s why I do this work: to offer others the same compassion and strength that helped me, and to walk beside them as they discover their own capacity to heal and grow.

Jonathan Rosenbloom, LCSW's approach

I would describe my approach to therapy as integrative, meaning I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities to best meet each person’s unique needs. My training and experience in EMDR, IFS, exposure therapy, and CBT allow me to tailor my work to what will be most effective for you at any given time. I see therapy as a collaborative process—there’s no single method that works for everyone, and my goal is to help you find the tools, strategies, and insights that foster healing and a sense of balance in your life.

Above all, I want therapy to be a space where you feel genuinely supported, understood, and empowered. Whether you’re working through past experiences, learning to manage anxiety, building confidence in social situations, or simply striving to feel more at ease day to day, I’m here to walk alongside you. My priority is to help you develop the awareness and skills to navigate life’s challenges with confidence and resilience—so that, over time, you feel grounded, capable, and more connected to yourself.

Jonathan Rosenbloom, LCSW's experience working with the Jewish community

Judaism has always been a central part of my life, shaping my values, worldview, and the way I connect with others. From meaningful traditions to the shared understanding of the unique challenges and historical traumas our community has faced, I feel a deep connection to the richness and complexity of Jewish experience. This connection influences not only who I am, but also how I show up as a therapist—with respect, empathy, and a profound appreciation for each person’s story.

Before becoming a therapist, I had the privilege of working with a range of Jewish organizations and communities, including Holocaust survivors, individuals with disabilities, and residents of independent living facilities. These experiences have been deeply formative, strengthening my awareness of the resilience, vulnerability, and strength that coexist within the Jewish community. Today, I bring that awareness into my clinical work, creating a space that is compassionate, culturally sensitive, and free of judgment. Whether you’re navigating personal challenges, processing intergenerational trauma, or seeking to live more fully in alignment with your Jewish values, I am here to support you. Therapy can be a powerful tool for healing and growth, and it would be an honor to walk alongside you on your journey.

What people have to say about working with me:

  • Working with Jonathan Rosenbloom has been life-changing. When I first started therapy, I was struggling with self-image issues and old trauma that I had carried for years. I didn’t realize how much it was shaping the way I saw myself, the world around me, and my interactions with others. Through EMDR and compassionate guidance, I’ve been able to process experiences I thought would always have power over me. Over time, I’ve started to feel more grounded, confident, and at peace with who I am. Throughout the process I’ve never once felt judged—only supported and encouraged. If you’re struggling with self-worth or carrying trauma, Jonathan Rosenbloom at JDR Psychotherapy is who you want to see. The experience has given me back a sense of hope and comfort that I didn’t think was possible for myself.
