Why Simona Noaghiul Yland chose to be in the helping profession
We look for therapy for ourselves, for our loved ones, or for our whole family, when we feel that we can not do enough to help. The sessions start with questions and doubts, nervousness and anxiety, with anger or sadness. Embarking on the psychotherapeutic journey is challenging and full of hope. I find the first sessions beautiful and humbling at the same time, with two people meeting as human beings. I am navigating this journey with you, in moments when vulnerability makes it hard, and pain is overwhelming.
I am a psychotherapist with training covering clinical medicine and public health, marriage and family therapy, and complex trauma therapy. I am on the faculty team of the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy in New York City, and at Hofstra University, on Long Island.
I am trained in a variety of models of therapy, from psychodynamic therapy, CBT, DBT and ACT for individuals, to Gottman, Imago, and structural couple therapy, and other specific family therapy modalities. I am certified in integrative complex trauma and PTSD treatment including EMDR, IFS, and somatic modalities. I also specialized in DBT treatment of teens and young adults. My sessions integrate mindfulness techniques for stabilization and processing, in an accepting, supportive and open patient - therapist connection.
My clinical practices are located both in Manhattan and Huntington, Long Island, where I treat individuals, couples and families. On Thursday mornings I offer half day of low fee sessions for clients who can not afford the regular psychotherapy fees.
I am looking forward to meeting you.
