💙 Warm 👂 Listener 💡 Solution-oriented 🥇 EmpoweringWhy Rivky Blatt, LMSW chose to be in the helping profession
My decision to become a social worker comes from a deep, intrinsic desire to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. It’s not just a career for me—it’s a calling that stems from both empathy and personal experience. Growing up, I often found myself as the person others turned to for advice or simply a listening ear. I’ve always been a good listener, and people often told me that talking to me felt therapeutic. Those moments sparked something within me—a recognition of the power of being truly heard and understood.
I also know firsthand how isolating and overwhelming different challenges can feel. My own experiences have shaped my understanding of just how important it is to have a safe, supportive space to open up. That’s what drives me: the hope of creating that space for others. I want to help people share their struggles without fear or judgment and guide them toward positive change.
Being in the helping profession allows me to witness transformation—big or small—in the lives of those I work with. Knowing that I can support someone on their journey toward healing and growth is incredibly fulfilling and humbling. It reminds me every day why I chose this path and why I wouldn’t want to do anything else.
Rivky Blatt, LMSW's approach
As a social worker, my approach to therapy is rooted in flexibility, empathy, and collaboration. I believe in meeting my clients where they are, both emotionally and mentally, and tailoring my methods to fit their unique needs. Every person’s journey is different, so I draw from a variety of therapeutic models to support them in ways that feel effective and meaningful to them.
At the heart of my work is a person-centered approach. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where my clients feel truly seen, heard, and understood. Active listening, empathy, and unconditional positive regard form the foundation of my practice, helping clients feel comfortable enough to explore their feelings, thoughts, and experiences at their own pace.
My goal is to empower clients, helping them uncover their own strengths and guiding them as they find their unique path to healing and growth. I believe in the transformative power of a strong therapeutic relationship—one built on trust, support, and mutual respect. This connection creates a space for clients to address challenges and begin to live their best lives.
To help clients achieve their goals, I draw on a range of modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Somatic Experiencing. By blending these approaches, I can adapt to each client’s needs and provide the tools they need to navigate their journey toward healing and fulfillment.
Therapy, for me, is not about “fixing” anyone but about empowering them to recognize their own inner resources and capacity for growth. Together, we work to create positive, lasting change—one step at a time.

Rivky Blatt, LMSW's experience working with the Jewish community
As an Orthodox Jewish woman, I have both lived and worked within the Jewish community, giving me a deep understanding of its values, traditions, and unique needs. This lived experience allows me to provide culturally sensitive care while addressing the specific challenges individuals and families may face. I draw from the rich cultural, religious, and communal traditions that shape the lives of those in the community, using this insight to offer meaningful and effective support.
My experience includes working with a diverse range of Jewish women, from modern Orthodox to ultra-Chasidic. This has given me a nuanced awareness of the varying needs, challenges, and customs within the community. I understand the importance of integrating cultural and religious sensitivities into the therapeutic process, ensuring clients feel understood and respected in every aspect of their identity.
I am attuned to both individual and collective needs within the Jewish community and can navigate cultural norms with care and respect. This awareness helps me build trust with my clients, creating a safe space where they feel comfortable addressing their struggles. My ability to blend cultural understanding with therapeutic skills allows me to meet the complex needs of those I work with, whether they are navigating family dynamics, communal pressures, or personal growth within a culturally rich framework.
Working within the Jewish community is a meaningful way for me to give back to a world that has shaped who I am. It’s a privilege to support individuals and families in finding healing, growth, and clarity while honoring the traditions and values that are so integral to their lives.
