🥇 Empowering 💠Open minded 🎨 Creative 🧘 CalmWhy Judith Blumenthal, LMHC chose to be in the helping profession
As an empathetic and compassionate person, raised in a family with a deep-rooted tradition of dedicating themselves to the welfare of others, I have always found joy and fulfillment in serving those in need. From a young age, I witnessed the profound impact that acts of kindness and support can have on individuals and communities, and this inspired me to follow in those footsteps.
The privilege of being in a position to help others is something I hold close to my heart. It’s not just a responsibility but an honor—one that constantly motivates me to give my best. I am also a naturally curious person, and I find immense value in learning from others—their stories, their experiences, and their perspectives. Interacting with people from diverse backgrounds has enriched my understanding of the world and deepened my appreciation for the strength and resilience inherent in humanity.
Choosing a career in the helping professions felt like a natural and meaningful extension of my values and passions. It allows me to channel my empathy, curiosity, and desire to make a difference into something tangible. Beyond that, this path continually reminds me of the blessings in my own life. Every moment spent helping others reinforces my gratitude for all that HaKadosh Baruch Hu has gifted me and strengthens my awareness of how fortunate I truly am.
To me, this profession is more than just work—it is a way of life that brings purpose, perspective, and endless opportunities to grow and give back.
Judith Blumenthal, LMHC's approach
My approach to counseling is straightforward: do what works best for the client. I do not rely exclusively on one or two modalities. Instead, I draw from a wide range of theories and strategies, tailoring my approach to fit the unique needs of each individual. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and I strive to meet clients where they are by adapting methods that align with their goals and ensure their comfort throughout the process.
Collaboration is a cornerstone of my practice. Whenever possible, I work closely with the client to explore and select approaches that resonate with them and support their desired outcomes. I believe that therapy is most effective when clients feel empowered and engaged in shaping their journey toward growth and healing.
At times, I recognize that additional resources or expertise may be beneficial for the client. In such situations, I am committed to collaborating with other professionals, consulting with collateral supports, or making referrals to ensure that clients receive the comprehensive care they need.
Ultimately, my goal is to provide a flexible, client-centered approach that prioritizes their well-being, fosters growth and equips them with the tools to thrive.
What you can expect from sessions with Judith Blumenthal, LMHC
My clients often describe my sessions as a safe and calming space where they leave feeling more grounded and in a better place than when they arrived. Above all, my clients feel truly heard and know that my positive regard for them is unconditional. I am here to support them, no matter where they are in their journey.
In our work together, I focus on fostering progress. While I strive to create an environment of encouragement and care, I also challenge my clients to push themselves and take an active role in their growth. At times, our sessions may bring up difficult emotions, but even in those moments, my clients can feel the support and guidance they need to navigate through them.
Additionally, clients can expect me to encourage them to continue their efforts outside of our sessions. Personal growth often requires dedication beyond the time we spend together, and I aim to equip my clients with tools and strategies to continue working hard on their own behalf between sessions.
Ultimately, my goal is to provide a balance of support, encouragement, and challenge that helps clients achieve meaningful and lasting progress in their lives.
Judith Blumenthal, LMHC's experience working with the Jewish community
As an Orthodox Jewish woman, I have had the privilege of being involved in the Jewish community in many meaningful capacities. Over the years, I have served as a volunteer mentor to individuals of varying ages, helping them navigate challenges such as peer relationships, parent-child dynamics, religious struggles, and more. My dedication to supporting others also extends to my work as a volunteer shadchan and dating coach, where I have guided countless individuals in both professional and volunteer capacities.
In addition, my background includes teaching in the Bais Yaakov system, directing summer programs, and contributing to Chinuch in various roles. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the unique needs and strengths within the Jewish community.
Some of my most cherished memories, however, involve visiting with the elderly, listening to their stories, and learning from their wisdom. Participating in various chessed opportunities has also been a source of great joy and fulfillment for me.
To date, the majority of my clients have been Jewish, though they come from diverse backgrounds and hold varying relationships with Judaism. When appropriate, I collaborate with others, including Rabbis, chaplains, school personnel, and other professionals to provide a personal, holistic and culturally sensitive support.
My deep connection to the Jewish community continues to inspire and inform my work, and I feel blessed to contribute to its growth and well-being.
