Why Deborah Asherian, LMHC chose to be in the helping profession

I have always felt a deep desire to help and understand others. Working in the field of psychology and mental health gives me the opportunity to explore why people think, feel, and behave the way they do. I am deeply sensitive to the pain and suffering of others and genuinely want to help alleviate emotional distress whenever I can. My personal experiences have shaped the empathy and motivation I bring to therapy, allowing me to connect with clients and help them feel seen and understood.

I value deep human connection and the authentic conversations that therapy makes possible. I am committed to creating a professional space where emotional intimacy and meaningful dialogue can happen. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is watching clients grow and evolve, moving from confusion, pain, or feeling stuck to insight, resilience, and meaningful change. I approach therapy with patience, care, and emotional awareness, and I am dedicated to helping others become the best versions of themselves.

Deborah Asherian, LMHC's approach

As a licensed psychotherapist with extensive experience, I am deeply committed to helping individuals navigate and make sense of life’s challenges. I work closely with clients to process difficult experiences and uncover pathways toward healing, growth, and resilience. I have supported adults and couples facing a wide range of concerns, including trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, loss, adjustment difficulties, and relationship challenges. I also help individuals explore and process past experiences that may be affecting their present functioning, guiding them toward greater understanding and relief.

My approach is grounded in empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental perspective, and I believe every client deserves a treatment plan tailored to their unique journey. I draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy, Family and Couples Counseling, Motivational Interviewing, and Strength-Based Therapy. I am dedicated to helping clients cultivate self-love, self-respect, confidence, and resilience. Together, we work collaboratively to overcome challenges, strengthen coping skills, and enhance overall well-being so clients can lead fuller, more satisfying lives.

What you can expect from sessions with Deborah Asherian, LMHC

In our work together, my goal is to create a supportive, non-judgmental space where you feel comfortable sharing whatever is on your mind. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we will work together to explore your experiences, emotions, and the challenges you may be facing. I strive to provide thoughtful listening, honest feedback, and guidance as we examine patterns, beliefs, and behaviors that may be affecting your well-being.

We will also focus on developing practical tools and strategies to help you manage difficult emotions, improve relationships, and navigate life’s challenges with greater ease. At times, our work may involve reflecting on past experiences to understand how they influence your present thoughts and behaviors. At other times, we may focus on building coping skills, setting goals, and creating meaningful change in your daily life.

Progress in therapy looks different for everyone, and we will move at a pace that feels right for you. My role is to support you, challenge you when it’s helpful, and guide you toward greater insight, resilience, and self-understanding. Together, we can work toward a stronger sense of well-being, clarity, and confidence in navigating life’s complexities.
