Iām smiling as I write this because the truth is...I believe it didnāt choose it, It chose me.
In 2003, after 2 years of learning in Kollel, I set out into my career (of 20 years) in Commercial Real Estate. Rewind to 1999, when I was at Touro College, and my Psychology professor convinced me to drop the idea of becoming a Psy.D. He told me it would mess with my head. At the time, I had wanted to help "teens at risk" in the Frum community.
In 1998, in my Yeshiva dorms, i was introduced to internet chat rooms. From then on, while learning, davening and going through life in yeshiva, I was living a double life (filled with inner shame), trying my hardest to overcome my "Yetzer Hara" and "nisyanos".
Fast forward to the 2008 real estate crash and financial crisisāmy life started falling apart. No amount of Teshuva, Tefillah or Tzedaka had helped and everything I had learned and tried backfired. I felt helpless and hopeless.
By May 2010, I had completely ācrashed and burned.ā I was heading toward divorce and still in total denial that I was an addict. By July 2010, I finally admitted itāI was an addictāand I didnāt want to live anymore. My therapist along with Rabbi Abraham Twerski, MD, convinced me to go to rehab, and I agreed.
In September 2010, I went to rehab. A few days after coming back, I relapsed. Thatās when my recovery journey really began.
In 2016, I completed the CCAR Recovery Coaching Certification Course. At the time, I didnāt do it to become a coach; I did it for the education, the experience, and to add more tools to my tool belt. It never even occurred to me that Iād use it professionally one day.
Covid 2020, came with difficult mental health challenges for many, especially those already dealing with mental illness. I started coaching during this time, but I was faced with both the challenges of growing my practice anonymously as I wasn't ready to be as visible as I am today.
Over the past 14 years, Iāve seen more and more Frum Jews struggle to get the help they need to recover. Many leave recovery saying itās not for them, that itās too hard. Some justify acting out, and others just give up. They go through so much unnecessary pain and suffering without getting the healing they deserve.
Too often, theyāre told they arenāt taking recovery seriously enough or arenāt working their program hard enough. But Iāve found that those arenāt usually the real issues. In fact, the solution is often the opposite of what theyāre told.
(Even if someone tells You that Your not a "sex addict" or "sexaholic" You are not alone and there is a solution.)
Thatās why Iām here todayābecause Iāve lived this journey, and Iāve seen the need. Iām committed to helping others find their way to real recovery and healing.
Chaim Fishof's approach
My coaching philosophy is simple: clarity and simplicity are key to achieving success. Iāve seen too many people struggle in recovery, and my mission is to change that.
I work with my clients to transform their health as quickly and efficiently as possible, while also ensuring these changes are sustainable. Together, we build a foundation for living their best livesāone day at a timeāwith mindfulness, emotional awareness, intention, purpose, and connection. This approach fosters self-acceptance, self-love, and confidence, creating a ripple effect of growth and healing.
Iām results-driven and progress-focused. My methods combine modern, science-based approaches with 12-Step Principles in what I call a Hybrid 12-Step Principled Trauma-Informed Recovery Model. This unique framework integrates the latest research with timeless principles, ensuring clients receive a balanced, effective approach to their recovery. (Rabbi Dr. Abraham Twerski, Dr Patrick Carnes, Bessel Van Der Kolk, Richard Schwartz, Peter Levine, Janina Fisher, Tony Robbins, Charles Duhigg to name a few).
NEUROPLASTICITY
Science has shown that the first 90 to 180 days of recovery are critical for the brain and body to heal and regrow healthy neuro-pathways as the foundation for successful recovery. My work is grounded in this understanding, providing the structure and support clients need to navigate this vital period successfully.
What you can expect from sessions with Chaim Fishof
I offer a variety of formats, including 1-on-1 Transformations, Groups, Bootcamps, and Hybrid options. Currently, 95% of my sessions are held via Zoom or phone, with plans to add more in-person sessions and an in person group in February 2025.
In the initial sessions, we focus on understanding your current situation and creating a clear blueprint for your recovery journey. Together, weāll identify whatās keeping you stuck and begin working toward your goals, whether thatās achieving recovery success, healing relationships, or restoring balance in your life.
Our sessions are hands-on and results-focused, particularly in the first few months. During this time, weāll delve into your behavior patterns and cycles, identify and remove blocks, and focus on 3 key areas that weāll track and measure for success.
I teach practical tools and exercises, including meditation, breathwork, and learning how to find stillnessāskills that help with daily emotional regulation. Youāll also learn to become a āMaster Mechanicā of your recovery, equipped with a toolkit of proven techniques from the 12-Step Model, somatic practices, and other science-backed methods, all with the guiding principle of āTake the Best and Leave the Rest.ā
Some sessions may be directive and intensive, focusing on breaking through obstacles, while others might center on reviewing the past week, solving challenges, and preparing for the week ahead. Every step is tailored to ensure youāre supported, empowered, and making progress toward sustainable recovery and transformation.
Chaim Fishof's experience working with the Jewish community
Working with the Jewish community is deeply meaningful and spiritually aligned with my purpose. Helping Jewish men and women heal and recoverābreaking free from pain, obsession, guilt, and shameāis not just my mission; itās my calling. As Joseph told his Brothers in Egypt, "I was Sent".
Addressing the unique challenges our community faces, particularly with technology and sex addiction, is some of the most rewarding work Iāve ever done. Watching my clients find freedom and rediscover their strength fills me with gratitude and purpose.
For me, my clients arenāt just clientsāweāre family, connected by a shared journey of healing, growth, and transformation. This connection drives me to give my all to this work every single day.
