Why Yocheved Jacobsohn, LMHC chose to be in the helping profession

From a young age, I naturally found myself in the role of listener and helper. I was always drawn to understanding people and supporting them through difficult moments, and watching others face challenges throughout my life gave me a strong desire to learn how to help in a meaningful and lasting way. That pull eventually led me to study psychology throughout both my undergraduate and graduate education, where my passion for this work only deepened. Over the years, I have continued to feel grateful for the opportunity to sit with people as they share their innermost thoughts, feelings, fears, and hopes.

Through my experiences working in schools, agencies, and private practice, I have had the privilege of meeting and supporting people from all different walks of life. Each person brings their own story, struggles, strengths, and perspective, and that is something I never take for granted. My appreciation for this field has continued to grow with every stage of my professional journey, and I remain deeply committed to creating a space where people feel heard, understood, and supported. I believe that being able to speak openly and honestly with someone who is truly listening can be incredibly powerful, and it is an honor to be trusted with that role in people’s lives.

Yocheved Jacobsohn, LMHC's approach

At times, life can feel overwhelming, leaving you anxious, stressed, and unsure of how to move forward. While these are very human and normal emotions, anxiety can sometimes start to take over day-to-day life, leading to patterns of avoidance or a sense that things will never really change. When that happens, it can feel isolating and exhausting, even when everything looks “fine” on the outside.

I specialize in helping women who struggle with anxiety, using a personalized approach rooted in understanding each person’s unique experience. My work focuses on breaking down overwhelming thoughts and feelings into manageable steps, so they feel less consuming and more workable. Together, we look at what is triggering the anxiety, how it shows up in your life, and how to begin shifting those patterns so you can regain a sense of confidence and control.

In addition to anxiety work, I also specialize in helping parents reconnect with confidence in their parenting role and develop a deeper understanding of both themselves and their children. Parenting can bring up its own layers of stress, doubt, and emotional overwhelm, and I offer both support and practical guidance to help parents move through those challenges with more clarity and steadiness. The goal is to help you feel more grounded in your choices and more secure in your relationship with your child.

I use an integrative approach in my work, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as ACT, CPT, Gestalt, and IFS. This allows me to tailor treatment to each person rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all method. The work is collaborative and flexible, shaped around what you need most in order to move forward in a way that feels sustainable and authentic to you.

What you can expect from sessions with Yocheved Jacobsohn, LMHC

I believe in honoring your journey and your perspective, and I use an attachment-based model to create a safe, non-judgmental space for you to do your work. Therapy is a place where you can slow things down, turn your focus inward, and begin to connect more deeply with your true self. I see this process as one built on trust, consistency, and a genuine human relationship where you don’t have to show up as anything other than who you are.

There are no miracle cures, and I don’t believe in overpromising quick fixes. I cannot promise that your behavior or circumstances will change in a specific way or within a set timeline. What I can promise is that I will show up with care, attentiveness, and a strong commitment to understanding you. Together, we work to make sense of your repeating patterns, explore what feels stuck, and get clearer on what you truly want for yourself and your life.

Yocheved Jacobsohn, LMHC's experience working with the Jewish community

In addition to being a frum therapist, I have extensive experience working within the Jewish community in a variety of settings. Over the past decade, I have worked as both a therapist and supervisor in different clinics and social service agencies serving the Jewish community. These roles have given me a broad and grounded understanding of the kinds of challenges people face, as well as the strengths and resilience that exist within the community.

I have found that my ongoing work within the community helps me stay attuned to the unique cultural and religious considerations that can come up in the therapeutic process. I understand how identity, values, family dynamics, and community expectations can all play an important role in someone’s experience. This awareness allows me to hold space in a way that is both clinically informed and culturally sensitive, so clients feel understood on all levels of who they are.

  • Yocheved gave me the safe space to allow myself to feel my emotions and express them. It is so liberating to feel instead of pushing it all deeper into my heart.I would not be where I am today without her guidance, support, care, and patience!
