🥇 Empowering 💠Open minded 🌎 Holistic 🤝 CollaborativeWhy Tzurty Mermelstein, LMSW chose to be in the helping profession
I chose the helping profession because I believe that being of service is one of the most meaningful ways to live a life with purpose. I have always felt drawn to understanding the inner lives of people, the questions they carry, the ways they adapt in order to survive, and the quiet longing many hold to feel more whole and at home within themselves. Over time, it became clear to me that healing is not only about reducing symptoms or fixing what feels broken. It is about creating space for people to reconnect with who they are beneath the roles they have taken on, the expectations placed upon them, and the histories they have inherited.
This work gives me the privilege of supporting people during moments when life feels uncertain, when identity is shifting, or when old ways of understanding themselves and the world no longer feel quite right. These periods can feel confusing, but they can also open the door to meaningful transformation and growth. Being present with people as they begin to find clarity, safety, and a renewed sense of self-trust is something I consider deeply human and deeply meaningful. At its heart, this profession reflects my values around care, curiosity, and the belief that people deserve the opportunity to live lives that feel more authentic, connected, and true to who they are.
Tzurty Mermelstein, LMSW's approach
My approach to therapy is relational, trauma-informed, and grounded in presence. I believe healing begins when people feel safe enough to be honest, curious, and fully themselves. In our work together, I focus not only on the symptoms someone may be experiencing, but also on understanding the deeper patterns that shape their present-day life. This often includes exploring how past experiences, nervous system responses, and different inner parts influence the ways we relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us.
I see therapy as a collaborative process that unfolds at a pace that feels respectful and supportive for each person. Together, we bring attention to emotional, somatic, and reflective awareness, allowing space for insight while also staying connected to the body and lived experience. Over time, this process can support deeper integration and a greater sense of internal stability. My hope is to help clients reconnect with themselves, strengthen self-trust, and move toward a life that feels more authentic, meaningful, and aligned with who they truly are.

What you can expect from sessions with Tzurty Mermelstein, LMSW
In our sessions, you can expect a thoughtful and grounded space where you don’t need to perform or arrive with everything already figured out. My intention is to create an environment where you can show up as you are and explore whatever feels present for you. We will move at a pace that feels safe and collaborative, allowing room for both reflection and curiosity. Along the way, we will pay attention not only to what you are thinking, but also to what you are feeling and noticing in your body, since these experiences often hold important information about what you are going through.
I will offer reflections, questions, and guidance to help you better understand yourself, the patterns that may be shaping your life, and what is emerging for you in the present moment. Our work may include exploring emotions, relationships, identity, or experiences that have felt confusing, overwhelming, or difficult to make sense of. When relevant, we may also talk about psychedelic or worldview shifting experiences and the meaning they hold for you. Above all, our sessions are centered on building a sense of safety, clarity, and self-trust so that you can feel more connected to yourself and more confident living in alignment with what you truly want and need.
Tzurty Mermelstein, LMSW's experience working with the Jewish community
Much of my clinical experience has been working within the Jewish community, beginning with my internship and continuing throughout my professional work. Over time, I have developed a deep understanding of Chassidish culture and the values, structures, and dynamics that can shape a person’s identity, relationships, and inner life. I have seen how community, tradition, and belief can offer meaning and connection, while also sometimes bringing complexity or tension to a person’s personal journey. This perspective allows me to approach my work with thoughtfulness and care for the cultural context that many clients carry with them.
Because of this background, I am able to work with nuance, sensitivity, and cultural awareness when supporting clients from these communities. Some people I work with feel deeply rooted and supported by their community, while others may be questioning aspects of it or navigating changes in their beliefs and sense of belonging. For many, the process involves exploring questions around identity, autonomy, and personal values while still honoring important parts of their history and upbringing. My goal is to offer a space where these conversations can unfold openly and respectfully, allowing each person to find a path that feels honest and meaningful for them.
