Alyssa Janof, LCSW's style
😃 Humorous 🥇 Empowering 🤝 CollaborativeWhy Alyssa Janof, LCSW chose to be in the helping profession
I have always known that I wanted to help people, and once I connected that desire with therapy, I knew this was the career for me. Through working in a multitude of areas and with people struggling with all levels of mental health, I have gained the experience and understanding needed to meet each client where they are. I believe that every person’s experience is different, and therapy should reflect that. My goal is to create a space where clients feel comfortable, supported, and understood throughout the process.
I have had some wonderful therapists myself, and those experiences have greatly shaped the way I approach this work. I know how important it is to feel heard and supported by someone you trust, and I strive to be that for as many people as possible. I approach therapy with empathy, patience, and openness, and I value the relationship built between therapist and client. Whether someone is navigating a difficult period, struggling emotionally, or simply looking for support and guidance, I aim to help them feel less alone in what they are going through.
Alyssa Janof, LCSW's approach
I am passionate about using cognitive behavioral therapy in my sessions because our behaviors and emotions are so closely tied to the way we think and perceive the world around us. I believe that, in order to create meaningful and lasting change, it is important to take all of those pieces into consideration. My approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and tailored to each individual person and their needs. I want clients to better understand not only what they are feeling, but also the patterns and thought processes that may be contributing to those experiences.
In addition to cognitive behavioral therapy, I also utilize insight-oriented psychotherapy, psychoeducation, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy to continue meeting each client where they are. I understand that therapy is a relationship, and I work hard to create a safe, supportive, and comfortable environment in every session. Building trust and connection is an important part of the process, and I strive to help clients feel heard, respected, and understood. My goal is to support clients in developing insight, building coping skills, and feeling more confident in their ability to navigate challenges both inside and outside of therapy.
What you can expect from sessions with Alyssa Janof, LCSW
I begin treatment by really getting to know the client, not just what brings them to therapy now, but the whole picture of who they are. Taking the time to understand a person’s background, experiences, relationships, strengths, and challenges helps me build a clearer understanding of how to best support them in accomplishing their goals. I believe therapy works best when clients feel seen as a whole person rather than just a list of symptoms or concerns. Every individual brings their own story into the room, and I value creating space for that story to be heard and understood.
I like to say that I am the GPS. You plug your desired destination in, and I will work my hardest to help get you there. Along the way, we may take different twists and turns, adjust the route, or encounter unexpected challenges, but we will continue moving toward your goals together. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I strive to help clients feel supported, guided, and empowered throughout that journey.
Alyssa Janof, LCSW's experience working with the Jewish community
Being Jewish is one of the most important parts of my identity and who I am. Over the last few years, I have found that many Jewish clients, including those who may not identify as religious, are looking for a therapist who can offer a sense of safety, familiarity, and understanding without needing certain cultural experiences or dynamics explained. Having spent my whole life in the Jewish community, I believe I can bring an added layer of comfort and connection to the therapeutic relationship. I understand how meaningful it can be to feel culturally understood in therapy, and I strive to create a space where Jewish clients feel supported, accepted, and fully able to show up as themselves.
