I chose this profession because I genuinely enjoy working with people and find this work deeply meaningful. I’m naturally curious about what shapes our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and I love using that curiosity to help clients make sense of their experiences in a compassionate, informed way.
I also find neuropsychological testing deeply rewarding—it allows me to bring clarity to situations that may feel confusing or overwhelming. My goal is for testing results to not only provide answers, but also guide practical strategies for growth and self-understanding.
Therapy is equally fulfilling. I value being present with clients during challenging moments, supporting personal growth over time, and learning from each person I work with.
Tatyana Shchupak, Ph.D.'s approach
I help children, adolescents, and adults manage anxiety, ADHD, Autism, trauma, learning challenges, life transitions, and family or relationship stress. I also provide neuropsychological evaluations to clarify diagnoses and guide treatment planning and school accommodations.
Working with adults and adolescents: Therapy is collaborative, grounded in evidence-based techniques like CBT, and tailored to each client’s goals. For some, this involves structured guidance and practical strategies; for others, it means having space to explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences at their own pace.
Working with children and families: Sessions often integrate play, creative activities, and hands-on strategies to help children express themselves and build practical skills for managing emotions, behaviors, and daily challenges. Parents are actively involved, receiving guidance to support growth, resilience, and success at home and school.
Sessions move at a manageable pace and remain approachable. We may use metaphors, engaging exercises, or humor to make concepts easier to understand and remember. Throughout, you’ll practice practical tools you can apply in daily life to create meaningful, lasting change.
If you’re looking for guidance or support for yourself or your child, I welcome you to reach out to explore what might work best.
What you can expect from sessions with Tatyana Shchupak, Ph.D.
You’ll gain insight into your thought patterns and how they influence your emotions and behaviors. Together, we’ll identify what’s helping and what may be getting in the way, then practice new ways of thinking and responding that align with your goals. Over time, this fosters clarity, self-awareness, and confidence.
For children, sessions include play, games, and hands-on strategies to help them develop coping skills, self-regulation, and confidence. Parents are involved to reinforce these skills at home and school, creating a supportive environment for growth.
Appointments are available virtually and in person at multiple locations, including South Brooklyn and Downtown Brooklyn.
Tatyana Shchupak, Ph.D.'s experience working with the Jewish community
I have supported many clients from Jewish backgrounds, helping individuals and families navigate stress, family dynamics, life transitions, and relationship challenges. I understand how cultural and community factors—expectations, values, and norms—can affect comfort in seeking support and discussing mental health. I tailor my approach to each person’s unique background, honoring their experiences, identity, and what feels right for them.
