💙 Warm 👂 Listener 💡 Solution-oriented 🥇 EmpoweringWhy Tzvi Hilsenrath chose to be in the helping profession
Growing up in a family that valued helping others, it felt natural for me to follow in their footsteps. With a grandfather as a rabbi, a father as a principal, and a mother as a teacher, I knew that I too wanted to pursue a profession in the helping field. Although I didn't consciously choose to become a therapist, I found myself naturally gravitating toward this field. Meeting with clients was a transformative experience for me and I knew from the start that this was the path I wanted to follow. While I've held various social work jobs, including case manager and nursing home social worker, my ultimate goal was always to work in private practice as a psychotherapist. Helping people live their lives to the fullest is the most rewarding job I can imagine, and I feel fortunate to be able to do so every day.
Tzvi Hilsenrath's approach
Life is a journey filled with a multitude of emotions - love, happiness, pain, and suffering. And it is the art of navigating through the tough times to reach a place of joy, fulfillment, and meaning that makes life worth living. However, this journey isn't always easy. It is full of obstacles, uncertainties, and struggles that can leave us feeling lost, alone, and overwhelmed.
That's where therapy comes in. Therapy is a powerful tool that can help us heal and grow within the context of a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship. As a therapist, I prioritize building a strong, empathetic, and trusting connection with my clients. I want them to know that they are not alone and that they have a partner in their journey toward healing.
To help my clients navigate their unique challenges, I use an eclectic approach that blends cognitive-behavioral, rational-emotive, and mind-body therapies, such as art therapy and somatic therapy. This approach allows me to tailor my techniques to meet each client's specific needs and goals. Whether my clients are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, shame, or life-stage transitions, I strive to create a safe and supportive space where they can explore their emotions, beliefs, and behaviors.
My ultimate goal as a therapist is to empower my clients to overcome their challenges, tap into their inner resources, and live a more authentic, fulfilling, and meaningful life. I believe that every person has the capacity for growth, change, and healing, and I feel honored to be a part of that transformative journey.

One of the most important things I ask of my clients is that they bring their natural and authentic selves to our sessions, as this is key to establishing a trusting and effective therapeutic relationship.
