Therapeutic Art Groups with Ricki Breier, MHC-LP's Purpose or Mission
Our therapeutic art groups are designed to provide children and teens with a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where they can build confidence, strengthen social skills, and develop a greater understanding of themselves. We believe that every child deserves a space where they feel heard, valued, and accepted for who they are. Having a place where they can express themselves freely, explore their feelings, and connect with others can make a meaningful difference in their growth and development. Our goal is to create an environment where every participant feels comfortable being themselves and knows that their thoughts and experiences matter.
The mission of our groups is to help participants discover their strengths, increase self-esteem, and develop meaningful connections with peers while learning healthy ways to express emotions and navigate challenges. Through creative experiences and guided discussions, children and teens are encouraged to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a way that feels natural, enjoyable, and developmentally appropriate. We want each participant to recognize their own abilities, feel more confident in who they are, and understand that they have the tools to work through difficult situations. Most importantly, we hope to create a sense of belonging where every child feels supported, accepted, and valued.
Therapeutic Art Groups with Ricki Breier, MHC-LP is designed for
These groups are designed for children and teens who may be experiencing challenges with confidence, self-esteem, friendships, social skills, emotional expression, peer relationships, bullying, anxiety, or everyday stressors. They can also benefit those who may be struggling internally with emotions, self-doubt, or feeling misunderstood, as well as those facing external challenges such as peer conflict, family transitions, or school-related difficulties. Sometimes, children and teens have a hard time understanding or communicating what they are feeling, or may not feel comfortable sharing their struggles with others. These groups provide an opportunity for them to work through these experiences in a supportive environment while developing a better understanding of themselves.
In many ways, the group serves as an additional support system, providing participants with a safe place to connect with peers, build meaningful relationships, and recognize that they do not have to navigate challenges alone. Being surrounded by others who may be experiencing similar situations can help children and teens feel less isolated and more understood. The group offers an opportunity to receive support, encouragement, and validation from both peers and the facilitator in an environment centered around growth and connection. Whether a child is working on building confidence, navigating friendships, or learning how to express difficult emotions, the goal is to help them feel supported while developing skills they can carry into their everyday lives.
Participants who join Therapeutic Art Groups with Ricki Breier, MHC-LP can expect
Participants can expect a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment where they are encouraged to be themselves while building confidence and meaningful connections with others. The groups are specifically designed to help children and teens strengthen their self-esteem, develop social skills, and feel more comfortable expressing their thoughts, ideas, and emotions. We want participants to feel that they have a space where they can be themselves without fear of judgment, while also having opportunities to learn, grow, and interact with others. Each child is encouraged to participate at their own pace and in a way that feels comfortable for them.
Through creative activities such as painting, drawing, sculpting, role-playing, games, and skit-making, participants are provided with opportunities to explore their experiences and emotions in a way that feels engaging and approachable. Art and play are powerful tools within the therapeutic process because they allow children and teens to communicate thoughts, feelings, and experiences that may be difficult to express through words alone. These activities make it easier for participants to explore different situations, express themselves creatively, and discover new ways of understanding their emotions. They also create natural opportunities for interaction, collaboration, and connection with peers.
These creative activities naturally lead to meaningful discussions about friendships, confidence, peer relationships, self-image, emotions, challenges, and everyday experiences. Participants are encouraged to share their thoughts in a supportive environment while learning from one another's experiences and perspectives. Through both the creative process and group discussions, participants build greater self-awareness, improve communication skills, strengthen problem-solving abilities, and gain confidence in themselves and their relationships with others. These experiences also help them develop a better understanding of how to navigate social situations and approach challenges in healthier ways.
One of the most valuable aspects of the group experience is realizing that they are not alone. Participants often discover that others share similar struggles, helping them feel understood, supported, and connected. This sense of connection can be especially meaningful for children and teens who may otherwise feel that no one understands what they are going through. Our goal is for each child or teen to leave feeling more confident, more capable, and more comfortable expressing themselves, connecting with others, and navigating their everyday experiences.
Jewish Community Experience
I have extensive experience working with children, teens, and families within the Jewish community and understand the unique values, traditions, family dynamics, and communal experiences that often play a significant role in a child's development and daily life. I recognize that a child's experiences are shaped by many different factors, including their family environment, school, friendships, and the community around them. Having worked with Jewish children and adolescents, I understand the importance of creating a supportive space that takes these experiences into consideration while allowing each child to feel accepted and understood. I believe it is important for children and teens to have an environment where they can explore their individual experiences while feeling comfortable with who they are.
Throughout my work, I have supported Jewish children and adolescents through challenges related to self-esteem, friendships, social relationships, emotional well-being, family transitions, and school-related concerns. This experience has allowed me to develop an understanding of both the strengths and unique challenges that can arise within the community. I understand that every child has their own experiences and that even within the same community, each family and individual may have different needs and perspectives. My goal is to create an environment where children and teens feel understood, supported, and encouraged to grow, while recognizing the important role that their family, relationships, and community play in their lives.
