💙 Warm 🥇 Empowering 💠Open minded 🤝 CollaborativeWhy Shterna Levy-Haim, LMFT chose to be in the helping profession
Life’s journey is a blend of both joyous moments and inevitable challenges. It’s only natural to encounter times of loss, relationship struggles, difficult life transitions, family conflict, negative self-image, and trauma. During these moments, everyone deserves to feel truly seen, heard, and supported. As a therapist, I believe that offering this support can make all the difference, guiding individuals through some of life’s toughest hurdles.
What truly draws me to the helping profession is the incredible honor of being part of someone’s healing journey. There is something deeply fulfilling and profoundly rewarding about witnessing growth and transformation, no matter how big or small. Being a companion on this journey, providing a safe space for healing and self-discovery, is a privilege I do not take lightly. The opportunity to help someone rediscover their strength, reclaim their peace, and move toward a brighter future is both humbling and inspiring. This is why I choose to dedicate myself to this work—it’s not just a career, but a calling.
Shterna Levy-Haim, LMFT's approach
In therapy, my approach is deeply experiential. I believe that the present moment holds the key to unlocking deeper understanding, so I will guide you to explore your current emotions and experiences. By focusing on the here and now, we can uncover and examine the layers of your inner world. This process allows us to identify the sore spots, patterns, and vulnerabilities that may be holding you back, while simultaneously revealing your true essence—the core self that contains the inherent qualities needed for growth, healing, and meaningful change.
As a marriage and family therapist, I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities to tailor our work together to your unique needs. I incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS) to explore the different parts of yourself, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) to deepen emotional awareness and connection, Somatic Experiencing exercises to process body-based experiences, and psychodynamic methods to understand the deeper roots of current challenges. My goal is to create a supportive and safe space where you can connect with your inner wisdom, heal old wounds, and cultivate lasting transformation.
What you can expect from sessions with Shterna Levy-Haim, LMFT
In our sessions, my primary hope is that you feel safe, supported, and encouraged to speak openly about any challenges you’re facing. Creating a space where you can truly express yourself is vital, and as your therapist, I am here to listen without judgment. I will gently encourage you to explore your emotional experiences with curiosity, helping you to gain deeper insight into what’s at the root of those feelings.
I believe that growth often happens when we lean into discomfort, so I will invite you to embrace those difficult emotions and accept all parts of yourself—the ones that feel empowering as well as the ones that might feel vulnerable or painful. My goal is to help you integrate these parts of your inner world and create space for healing.
At the end of each session, I like to provide a directive or focus for you to work on during the week. This is designed to help you integrate our session’s work into your everyday life, so that the progress we make together continues to unfold and strengthen between sessions.
Shterna Levy-Haim, LMFT's experience working with the Jewish community
I have had the privilege of working with the Jewish community from diverse backgrounds for over five years, both as a care manager and a marriage and family therapist. This experience holds deep personal meaning for me, as it allows me to give back to a community that has shaped who I am. I feel a strong commitment to supporting Jewish individuals, couples, and families through their unique challenges, while also contributing to the important work of destigmatizing therapy.
In my time working with the Jewish population, I’ve witnessed firsthand how therapy can be a powerful tool for healing, growth, and transformation. I strive to create a safe, compassionate space where my clients feel supported in their journey toward emotional well-being. By fostering understanding, promoting open dialogue, and addressing cultural sensitivities, I aim to help Jewish individuals and families embrace therapy as a resource for positive change and personal empowerment.
