Why Malky Berger, LCSW chose to be in the helping profession

The reasons I have chosen to be in the helping profession has evolved over time. Initially, my curiosity about human nature and a desire to understand people on a deeper level drew me to this field. During my studies, I became increasingly aware of the importance of mental health and the profound impact it has on individuals' lives. This realization fueled my passion for clinical work, as I wanted to make a tangible difference in people's well-being.

Upon graduating, my commitment to meeting the needs of others solidified my decision to pursue this path. In my practice, I am constantly fascinated by my clients' perspectives on their experiences and challenges. Their strengths, resilience, and openness to growth inspire me daily. Witnessing their journeys of self-discovery and transformation is both humbling and rewarding. It is a privilege to support them as they navigate their paths, and it reinforces my dedication to the helping profession.

Malky Berger, LCSW's approach

My approach to therapy begins with the fundamental belief that the client is the expert in their own life. I embrace a person-centered approach, creating a safe and non-judgmental space where clients feel heard and valued. This foundation allows for genuine collaboration and empowers clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences openly.

In addition to the person-centered approach, my work is also influenced by several therapeutic modalities, including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I integrate these approaches to tailor my interventions to each client's unique needs and goals. My practice is further enriched by psychoanalytical insights, which help me understand the deeper layers of my clients' experiences.

I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful technique for processing trauma. My commitment to ongoing learning and professional development drives me to continually expand my skill set. I am scheduled to train in Somatic work, which will further enhance my ability to support clients in healing both mind and body. I am dedicated to deepening my knowledge and honing my skills to provide the best possible care for those I work with.
