Dr. Leah Katz, PhD's style
🎯 Direct 💙 Warm 💡 Solution-oriented 🥇 EmpoweringWhy Dr. Leah Katz, PhD chose to be in the helping profession
I love what I do and feel deeply grateful to have chosen a career that brings so much meaning into my life. Being invited into my clients’ inner worlds and walking alongside them in their healing is something I hold with great care. It is precious to me to support people as they learn new skills, develop insight, and reconnect with a sense of purpose, fulfillment, and meaning in their lives. I see therapy as a collaborative process rooted in trust, curiosity, and compassion.
Much of my therapeutic work is informed by my formal education and the many trainings I have completed since graduate school. At the same time, a large part of how I practice comes from the transformative work I have done within myself over the years. My own personal growth continues to shape how I listen, how I show up, and how I support others through change. I believe that meaningful therapy is grounded in both professional knowledge and lived experience, and I strive to bring both into every session.
Dr. Leah Katz, PhD's approach
I offer both in-person and virtual support for teenagers and adults in Florida, as well as virtual sessions for clients in Oregon and New York. I specialize in helping people navigate anxiety, relationship struggles, perfectionism, burnout, and complex trauma. My goal is to provide a space where clients can feel seen, understood, and supported while working through the challenges that may be holding them back. I approach each person as unique, tailoring my work to what will best meet their needs in the moment.
In therapy, I draw from a mix of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, parts work, somatic techniques, and mindfulness and self-compassion practices. I am passionate about helping people get unstuck, find healing, and live a life that feels meaningful and aligned with their values. By combining different but complementary approaches, we can address challenges from multiple angles, helping them hold less power over daily life. I aim to empower my clients with tools, insight, and understanding so that change feels possible and lasting.
What you can expect from sessions with Dr. Leah Katz, PhD
My sessions are interactive and guided by goals that we set together at the start of therapy. I strive to be a warm, attentive listener while also offering direct feedback and practical tools to help you see things from new perspectives. I enjoy approaching challenges from multiple angles so that you can develop a well-rounded toolkit to navigate the difficulties you face.
Mindfulness and self-compassion are central to my approach, informed by years of my own training and practice. Throughout our work together, I regularly check in with you about how therapy feels and how you’re progressing toward your goals. My aim is to make the time you invest in therapy as meaningful and productive as possible. Ultimately, the goal is to help you “graduate” from therapy, reaching a place where you notice real, tangible shifts in your life and feel confident in the tools and strategies you can call upon when challenges arise.
Dr. Leah Katz, PhD's experience working with the Jewish community
My career began working with the Jewish community in Monsey, NY, where I completed my internship and spent several years at Bikur Cholim, a large community clinic. This early experience gave me a strong foundation in supporting individuals and families within a close-knit cultural community before I moved to the West Coast.
Over the past eleven years, I have broadened my experience to work with a diverse range of clients, including both Jewish and non-Jewish populations. Recently, I moved back East and now live in South Florida, where a significant part of my practice continues to focus on serving members of the Jewish community. I value the opportunity to combine this experience with my broader clinical work to provide meaningful, culturally aware support to all of my clients.
