Eliana Balk Moore, MSW, RYT's style
💙 Warm 💡 Solution-oriented 🙌 Affirming 🤝 CollaborativeWhy Eliana Balk Moore, MSW, RYT chose to be in the helping profession
I have always been fascinated by the mind and love exploring each person’s unique perspective, understanding their motivations, and connecting on a deeper level than what we typically encounter in day-to-day life. My journey began with studying psychology in college, which eventually led me to the yoga world, where I worked as a therapeutic yoga instructor. Over time, I realized that what I truly loved was speaking with clients and hearing their stories more than teaching the poses. This realization inspired me to shift my focus fully to talk psychotherapy, where I could support people in meaningful, personal ways.
As a therapist, I consider it a privilege to hold a safe and compassionate space for clients through some of their most vulnerable moments, working collaboratively toward the goals that matter most to them. My own life experiences, including surviving birth trauma, moving to a new state as a young adult, and returning to graduate school while raising young children, have shown me firsthand that growth is possible even through the hardest transitions. These experiences inform my work, allowing me to meet clients with empathy, authenticity, and an understanding of the courage it takes to navigate change. I aim to support clients in discovering their own resilience and creating meaningful shifts in their lives.
Eliana Balk Moore, MSW, RYT's approach
I take an eclectic approach to therapy, while staying rooted in both cognitive behavioral and attachment-based theories of behavior. Practically, this means we will explore common thought patterns that may be influencing your behavior, alongside relational patterns that began in childhood and continue to shape your current relationships. My approach is both solution-oriented and collaborative, ensuring that therapy feels meaningful, productive, and aligned with your own learning style.
Our work together is tailored to your needs. Some sessions may focus primarily on talking through your experiences, while others may involve learning and practicing specific skills to support your goals. Throughout, my priority is to make sure each session is serving your growth and helping you build the tools and insight you need to navigate life’s challenges with confidence.
What you can expect from sessions with Eliana Balk Moore, MSW, RYT
The first session is always an intake, designed to get a broad picture of who you are as a person. I’ll ask questions about your background, what your life looks like right now, what brought you to therapy, and what goals you hope to achieve. This helps me understand your needs and set the foundation for our work together.
Subsequent sessions are 45 minutes and typically begin with a review of how the past week has gone, including any homework or practice we discussed. From there, the session is guided by your needs—some clients may need space to talk and process, others may focus on practicing difficult conversations, and some may complete exercises or activities targeting specific skills, such as mindfulness or gratitude. This time is yours, and I aim to make every session feel meaningful, satisfying, and tailored to your unique goals.
