It brings me real joy and a deep sense of purpose to know I've made a positive difference in someone’s life. Whether it’s through connection, empathy, warmth, or simply offering understanding, I believe that being seen and heard can be incredibly healing. My work is grounded in forming meaningful relationships where clients feel supported and valued. I don’t see myself as the expert on someone’s life — I see therapy as a collaborative process that allows for growth, clarity, and new insight.
At the core of my approach is the desire to empower my clients. I want the changes that happen in therapy to extend beyond our sessions, showing up in the choices they make and the way they relate to themselves. Self-understanding is a powerful tool, and I strive to help clients build a stronger, more fulfilling connection to themselves. Growth takes time, and my role is to walk alongside each client as they navigate that journey with curiosity, care, and a sense of hope.
Rebecca Kivelevitz, M.S. Ed's approach
My approach is eclectic, meaning I thoughtfully tailor each session to the unique needs, personality, and background of the individual sitting across from me. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all method — people are complex, and so the way we work together should reflect that. I bring warmth, openness, and acceptance into the room, creating a space where clients can feel safe to explore, reflect, and grow at their own pace.
Depending on what feels most helpful and relevant, I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including psychodynamic theory, cognitive behavioral techniques, humanistic approaches, family systems theory, and inner child work. Each has its place, and I integrate them in a way that supports deeper understanding and meaningful change. My goal is always to meet you where you are and walk with you toward greater clarity, healing, and self-awareness.
What you can expect from sessions with Rebecca Kivelevitz, M.S. Ed
During our sessions, we’ll begin by getting to know each other and building a foundation of trust. I’ll take the time to really understand who you are, what you're carrying, and how I can support you most effectively. Together, we’ll explore the areas in your life where you feel stuck or uncertain and identify the patterns, beliefs, or dynamics that may be holding you back. From there, we’ll come up with thoughtful, personalized interventions to help you move toward the goals you want to reach.
At times, I may offer simple, practical “homework” to help you continue the work outside of our sessions. This could look like journaling, practicing a new skill, or reflecting on something specific between sessions — all designed to bridge the gap between insight and action. These tools can help bring what we work on in session into your everyday life, relationships, and internal world. That said, I’m also simply here to listen, to hold space, and to offer support. This is your space, and you don’t have to go through anything alone.
Rebecca Kivelevitz, M.S. Ed's experience working with the Jewish community
I bring over 25 years of experience working within the Jewish community, a journey that began with my role as a school counselor in several Jewish day schools throughout Brooklyn. Those early years gave me a deep understanding of the unique cultural and emotional needs that often arise within Jewish family and community life. It was there that I developed a strong foundation in working with children and families, helping them navigate challenges with sensitivity and care.
Over time, I transitioned into private practice, where I’ve had the privilege of working with children, adults, and couples from a wide range of Jewish backgrounds. This work continues to be deeply meaningful to me. I understand the nuances that can come with religious identity, tradition, and community expectations, and I strive to create a space where clients feel fully understood and respected in all aspects of who they are.
