Why Nava Fox chose to be in the helping profession

First and foremost, I have a deep-seated compassion for others and a strong desire to make a difference in their lives. I wholeheartedly believe that everyone, regardless of their socioeconomic status, privilege, or genetics, can benefit from support and therapy. To me, it's not just a matter of providing assistance, but also empowering individuals to overcome their challenges and achieve their full potential.

My passion for helping others led me to pursue social work as my life's work. For me, it's more than just a job; it's a humanitarian mission to make the world a better place in whatever way I can. I'm committed to using my skills, knowledge, and resources to make a positive impact on people's lives and promote social justice and equity.

It's important to recognize that seeking help is not a sign of weakness but a sign of strength. Just as it's okay to ask for assistance with fixing an oven or changing a pipe, it's okay to seek support and guidance for personal challenges that may feel overwhelming or complex. I firmly believe that we should all embrace the fact that help is available, and we should never hesitate to reach out when we need it.

As for me, I am here to help. I care deeply about people and their well-being, and I am committed to providing a safe, compassionate, and supportive space for individuals to explore their concerns and work toward their goals.

Nava Fox's approach

Through my extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy, I have developed a profound understanding of its principles and techniques. I have found this approach to be incredibly beneficial for my clients, who often find it helpful in creating awareness and breaking negative cycles.

The crux of cognitive behavioral therapy lies in the relationship between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By understanding and identifying each of these components and the way they connect, clients can become more conscientious and in control of their own thought patterns, emotions, and actions. It's like cracking a code - once you understand how the cycle works, you can begin to make positive changes.

As a therapist, I use this framework as a powerful tool to help my clients break negative cycles and externalize their issues. What I mean by externalizing is that we can separate the person from the problem. It's not the client that's the problem; it's the way they're thinking about the problem that's causing them distress. By making this distinction, clients can begin to trust themselves more and build motivation and hope for change.

Ultimately, my goal is to help my clients gain a deeper understanding of their own thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and to provide them with the tools they need to make positive changes in their lives. I believe that cognitive behavioral therapy is a powerful tool for achieving these goals, and I am passionate about sharing its benefits with those I work with.

Nava Fox's experience working with the Jewish community

My ultimate objective is to create a lasting impact on the Jewish community, which requires a significant level of responsibility. Within any community, there are various challenges and an abundance of beauty and love. Through my extensive experience working in girls' and boys' yeshivas, providing outpatient counseling, running support groups, facilitating virtual gatherings during the pandemic on topics such as dating and marriage, and collaborating with other Jewish professionals, I have developed a deep understanding and admiration for each individual's unique circumstances.

My focus is on easing the burdens of others, offering comfort and support whenever necessary, and establishing a connection with the neshama and core essence of my clients. Everyone has their own set of strengths and weaknesses, shaped by their life experiences, and I am committed to honoring each individual's unique qualities. As I work towards my goal of making a meaningful impact on the Jewish community, I remain mindful of the weight of my responsibility and the tremendous privilege it is to serve others in this capacity.

What my clients have to say about working with me:

  • Thank you so much for giving the class on relationships. I found it super helpful and informative. I especially found it interesting to learn about the 4 steps to emotional intimacy. If you do give a class geared towards people who are currently dating I would be interested in participating.
