💙 Warm 🥇 Empowering 🌎 Holistic 🎨 CreativeWhy Malka Katzenstein chose to be in the helping profession
Life can be difficult at times for all of us, and I believe that having support and perspective can make a real difference. Through my own experiences, I’ve learned how helpful it can be to pause, reflect, and better understand what’s happening beneath the surface.
I was drawn to the helping profession because I value learning, growth, and meaningful connection. Being able to use what I’ve learned—personally and professionally—to help others navigate challenges, gain insight, and move forward with greater clarity is deeply fulfilling to me.
My background is in holistic wellness coaching, and I hold advanced certification in emotional eating psychology and body image, as well as graduate level training in Marriage and Family Therapy. Through my work, I became deeply interested in the ways our self-image, emotional patterns, and capacity for self-care shape how we show up in relationships. Over time, my work naturally expanded to focus on romantic partnerships, communication, and relational dynamics.
I view emotional distress, relational conflict, and patterns like reactivity or withdrawal not as personal failures, but as understandable responses shaped by past experiences and unmet emotional needs. Many of the couples and individuals I work with struggle not because they don’t care, but because they haven’t learned how to slow down, identify what they’re feeling, and communicate it in a way that fosters connection rather than conflict.
I work with individuals and couples who want deeper, more honest, and more connected relationships—with themselves and with each other.

Malka Katzenstein's approach
My approach is relational, emotionally focused, and grounded in the belief that our sense of self is shaped within relationships—past and present. I help clients move away from reactive patterns and toward greater emotional awareness, self-trust, and intentional communication.
Rather than focusing on “fixing” one person or assigning blame, I work to help clients understand what’s happening beneath the surface—what they’re feeling, what they’re needing, and how those needs can be communicated clearly and compassionately.
I take a holistic view of wellness, recognizing the interconnection between emotional, mental, and relational health. Sessions are collaborative, supportive, and paced to meet clients where they are.

Malka Katzenstein's experience working with the Jewish community
I work with people from different backgrounds and affiliations, but working with the Jewish community has a special place in my heart. As a Jewish woman, I understand the beauty, and also the challenges that may come up. In addition to my coaching work, I speak to groups in the Jewish community on a range of topics, including mental health and self-care, dating and relationships, body image and self-image, and emotional health. My work has included speaking with high school girls, young adults, young mothers, and other community groups.
I also volunteer with Shalom Task Force, facilitating workshops for high school and college students to promote awareness of healthy relationships. Being able to support my own community in this way is deeply meaningful, and my personal understanding allows me to meet clients with empathy, cultural awareness, and care.
