🎯 Direct 💙 Warm 😃 Humorous 🤝 CollaborativeWhy Yosef Reich, Psy.D. chose to be in the helping profession
I chose to be in the helping professions because I wanted to spend my working life doing work that's meaningful, which for me that meant helping other people. There is nothing more gratifying to me than seeing people grow in self-understanding, self-compassion, and healing over the course of our work together.
Yosef Reich, Psy.D.'s approach
My approach to therapy is ultimately focused on helping people know and like themselves. In my experience, self-criticism, internal conflict, anxiety, depression, and a host of other problems tend to stem from incomplete understanding of and compassion for the self. I help my clients understand how their difficulties came to be, and actively undo them in therapy.
What you can expect from sessions with Yosef Reich, Psy.D.
The foundation of a therapeutic relationship is a solid attachment where you feel heard, listened to, and responded to. You can expect me to firstly be warm, understanding, an excellent listener, and to customize therapy to your needs. There are many options for therapeutic techniques, but the most important consideration is which one works for you. There is no *one* right way to do this work - the most important guide for me is how any one intervention (or non-intervention!) lands for the client.
Yosef Reich, Psy.D.'s experience working with the Jewish community
I have extensive experience working across the full spectrum Jewish community. This includes the Chassidish, Syrian, Yeshiva, Modern Orthodox as well as secular Jews. It's important to note that while I am familiar with these communities, I do not make assumptions about my clients based on membership in a given community. The same way there are differences between these communities, there are differences within them too. Ultimately, everyone is an individual and their experiences and values can be very different from their neighbors'.
