π Listener π Affirming π₯ Empowering π HolisticWhy Illysa T. Hom, NASM-CPT, NASM-CNC chose to be in the helping profession
The mind-body connection is incredibly powerful. I believe that when we feel stronger physically, we naturally feel more positive overall and become better equipped to handle the daily stressors of life. Nothing makes me feel more alive than helping women build strength, confidence, and resilience while also improving flexibility, balance, and overall mobility. Whether it is having an easier time going up and down stairs, keeping up with children, or simply moving through life with more energy, these are the victories I love to celebrate with my clients.
What I offer is more than just a workout. I provide support, motivation, and accountability in a non-judgmental and welcoming space where women can show up fully as themselves. My goal is to help every client feel empowered, inspired, and capable of achieving her personal fitness goals. It is a beautiful and rewarding experience for me to witness women find their strength, step into their power, and recognize just how much they are capable of. I currently provide sessions virtually through Zoom as well as in person in Bergen County, NJ and Rockland County, NY, making it easy to connect in whatever way works best for you.
Illysa T. Hom, NASM-CPT, NASM-CNC's approach
Individuality, flexibility, and support are at the core of my approach. Every person is unique, with their own needs, goals, and abilities, and I do not believe in one-size-fits-all workouts or coaching. Instead, I take the time to create customized plans that align with your lifestyle, preferences, and aspirations, so that the journey feels both achievable and sustainable.
When we work together, I look beyond the workout itself. I take into account holistic factors such as how much sleep you had, your current energy level, pre-workout nutrition, and hydration. While I plan ahead to guide our sessions with structure and purpose, I also encourage you to listen to your body and honor what it needs on any given day. My goal is to provide a balance of accountability and flexibility, creating an environment where you can grow stronger while also building self-awareness and trust in yourself.
What you can expect from sessions with Illysa T. Hom, NASM-CPT, NASM-CNC
You can choose from 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions, giving you the flexibility to fit movement into your life in a way that feels right for you. The structure of each session varies based on your goals and preferences, but I always design them to be balanced, effective, and enjoyable. A typical weight training session includes light stretching, a warm-up, core work, full body strength training, HIIT, and a cool-down with stretching to leave you feeling both energized and grounded.
I use a wide range of equipment depending on what you have available, such as dumbbells, resistance bands, mats, kettlebells, TRX, and body weight exercises. Many women start with just a pair of 2β5 lb dumbbells, a mat if theyβd like, and a set of bands that I personally recommend. For those who want to add variety, I also offer options like Zumba, Gentle Yoga, ballet, or meditation. Zumba can be added as a fun and energizing 15β20 minute finish, while yoga can range anywhere from 15β45 minutes, giving you a chance to strengthen, stretch, or simply restore. Each session is customized so that you not only see progress, but also enjoy the process of getting stronger and feeling good in your body.
Illysa T. Hom, NASM-CPT, NASM-CNC's experience working with the Jewish community
Because of my proximity to Rockland County, NY, much of my experience has been working with Ultra-Orthodox women. From 2012 to 2016, I also led group Zumba classes for Orthodox women in Hightstown, NJ, which gave me a deep appreciation for the importance of creating a safe and welcoming space for women to move and feel strong. Over the past year, about half of my local clientele has been Orthodox men, women, and families in areas such as Airmont, Spring Valley, and Monroe, NY, which has allowed me to connect with the community in meaningful ways.
Currently, my longest-standing clients include a 45-year-old Ultra-Orthodox woman in Airmont, NY, with whom I train three times per week in her home, as well as a 77-year-old secular Jewish woman whom I meet with twice per week on Zoom. These relationships reflect the range of women I work with and the trust we build together over time. My passion is helping more Jewish women feel comfortable, safe, supported, and most importantly, stronger with each passing week. There is nothing more fulfilling to me than witnessing the transformation that comes when women find their strength, confidence, and sense of empowerment through movement.
