💙 Warm 👂 Listener 🥇 Empowering 🤝 CollaborativeWhy Angela R. David, RN chose to be in the helping profession
I have been in a helping profession for my entire career. A love of science combined with a deep desire to care for others is what first drew me to become a registered nurse. For over 26 years, I worked at the bedside in critical care, caring for people during some of the most acute and vulnerable moments of their lives. Those years taught me the importance of compassion, presence, and the ability to support people through uncertainty, challenge, and change.
The COVID-19 pandemic became a turning point for me. Caring for people whose lives were upended by chronic illness and crisis, while watching stress, burnout, and vicarious trauma quietly erode the health of my colleagues and myself, led me to start asking different questions about how we approach preventative care. It was no longer enough to respond to crisis after crisis. I wanted to better understand what happens before the crisis and discover more creative ways to help people prevent it, build resilience, and achieve their own version of optimal health.
That question gradually led me toward the preventative side of health and wellness. I became deeply interested in fostering independence rather than dependence, and helping people become their own best advocates rather than waiting for a system to intervene on their behalf. This shift is what led me to pursue health and wellness coaching, while also deepening a path I had already begun in 2015 when I became a yoga teacher. Along the way, I continued expanding my training through specialized, evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches, including iRest and work with military and veteran populations through Warriors at Ease.
Today, this same orientation shapes how I show up for every client. My work is client led because I believe people often hold more of the answers than they realize. I bring my clinical knowledge, evidence-based tools, and structure, while my clients bring their own experiences, goals, and direction. At the center of my work is the same thing that brought me into nursing in the first place: a deep well of compassion and a genuine desire to make a difference in people’s lives. I now channel that passion into helping people create sustainable changes that allow them to experience their fullest expression of health, balance, and well-being.
Angela R. David, RN's approach
My approach to coaching is entirely client-led. I do not tell you what to do or hand you a program to follow. Instead, using evidence-based coaching tools, I create a safe and structured space where you can explore the health topics that matter most to you, set goals rooted in your core values and desired outcomes, and develop the skills needed to create sustainable behavior change.
I rely on the same foundation taught and required by the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching, including motivational interviewing, scaling questions, reflective listening, and collaborative, self-determined goal setting. Rather than telling clients what to do, my role is to help you access your own motivation, recognize what may be getting in the way, and build accountability that feels like support rather than pressure. I believe lasting change happens when people feel empowered and connected to their own reasons for making a change.
This work is grounded in my clinical background as a registered nurse and my training in public health, but the direction is always yours. Together, we focus on creating a path that fits your life, your values, and your goals rather than following someone else’s definition of wellness. The goal is not to hand you a one-size-fits-all approach, but to help you build something sustainable and deeply personal while reminding you that you already have more power to change your life than you may realize.
What you can expect from sessions with Angela R. David, RN
If you are open to it, I like to begin each session with a brief moment of grounding, followed by an invitation to share something positive that has happened recently. It is a small practice, but it helps set an important tone for our work together. You are coming to coaching because you want to grow, improve, and make meaningful changes in your health and your life. While that desire for change is what brings us together, I want every session to begin with an acknowledgement of what is already working, what you are already doing, and the strengths you are already bringing to this process.
Some clients come to coaching already knowing what they want to change but find themselves struggling to make those changes last. Others are looking for guidance, resources, and information to better understand their options and find a place to begin. Either way, the work is about closing the gap between where you are and where you want to be, especially while navigating chronic stress, competing demands, and the reality of a life that does not pause for change to happen. I do not assume that I know what that path looks like for you. I ask questions, I listen, and together we build a plan that feels meaningful, realistic, and sustainable, one session at a time.
Our sessions are 30 minutes in length and are conducted virtually via Zoom. The frequency of sessions is determined together based on your goals, your needs, and what feels sustainable for you. My hope is that coaching becomes a supportive space where you can reflect, gain clarity, recognize your strengths, and take intentional steps toward the health and well-being you want to create.
Angela R. David, RN's experience working with the Jewish community
As a Jewish woman with a deep and longstanding connection to Israel, serving my community is not separate from my professional work. It is woven into who I am and how I approach supporting others. Through my volunteer work with Chayal’s Angels, an Israeli nonprofit dedicated to providing holistic care for IDF soldiers, I have had the profound privilege of bringing trauma-informed yoga and meditation directly to IDF soldiers on active military bases in Israel. This work has been some of the most meaningful I have done in my career, and it continues to be an important part of my life. I remain involved with Chayal’s Angels remotely from the United States and on the ground when I am in Israel, always looking for ways to expand what I can offer.
Through my health and wellness coaching practice, I am committed to serving Jewish individuals seeking wellness support that feels genuinely safe, inclusive, and culturally resonant. I understand, both personally and professionally, the unique stressors, responsibilities, and experiences our community carries. My goal is to create a space where people feel seen, understood, and supported as they navigate their own health and wellness journeys. It is a privilege to be able to show up in a meaningful way and help others access the tools, strength, and resilience they already carry within themselves.

- Restack, by Gia Merlo, MD
Restack by Gia Merlo is a science-based self-help book that combines psychiatry, psychology, and lifestyle medicine to help readers identify the “mental blocks” that keep them stuck. The iRest Program for Healing PTSD by Richard C. Miller is a practical guide that introduces the iRest (Integrative Restoration) meditation protocol, an evidence-informed adaptation of Yoga Nidra developed to support people recovering from trauma. The book presents a structured ten-step program that helps readers cultivate deep relaxation, emotional regulation, self-awareness, and resilience while working with symptoms such as hypervigilance, anxiety, insomnia, and intrusive thoughts. Originally developed for individuals with PTSD, including military veterans, the practices are also applicable to anyone seeking greater emotional well-being and stress resilience. - Yoga Nidra, A Meditative Practice for Deep Relaxation and Healing, By Richard Miller, PhD
Yoga Nidra: The iRest Meditative Practice for Deep Relaxation and Healing by Richard C. Miller is a comprehensive guide to the iRest® approach to Yoga Nidra, blending ancient yogic wisdom with modern neuroscience and psychology. The book teaches readers how to access a state of deep, conscious relaxation to support healing, emotional resilience, and self-inquiry. Through guided practices and practical instruction, Miller explains how Yoga Nidra can help reduce stress, improve sleep, ease chronic pain, support trauma recovery, and cultivate a lasting sense of inner peace and well-being. Rather than simply promoting relaxation, the book presents Yoga Nidra as a lifelong contemplative practice for recognizing one’s inherent wholeness and resilience.
