Zahavah Fishfeld, LMHC's style
🎯 Direct 💙 Warm 💪 Challenging 👂 Listener 🥇 EmpoweringWhy Zahavah Fishfeld, LMHC chose to be in the helping profession
Helping you feel more hopeful now, so you can begin to see a better future, can truly change everything for you. My own experiences in life have shaped me and deeply influenced my journey of growth. I have been the recipient of support throughout my life, and I know how meaningful and life changing that support can be. I would not have become half of who I am without it, and I hold that awareness with great appreciation and humility.
I consider that support a gift, and I would feel truly privileged to help you along your own journey. Through my experiences, I have gained insight into what it means to be more aware, more sensitive, and more present with another person. Regardless of your age, when we begin working together, my hope over time is for you to feel better within yourself. I want you to be able to think about the future with more positivity, feel steadier as you move forward, and know that you can be okay.
Zahavah Fishfeld, LMHC's approach
Because trauma has played a role in so many lives, addressing it and learning how to emotionally regulate is incredibly important. Trauma can show up in many ways, including suppressing feelings, turning to unhealthy behaviors, and experiencing complicated or painful relationships. When these experiences are left unaddressed, they often continue to cause harm over time. My goal is to help you create space to understand what you are carrying and to begin finding safer, healthier ways to cope and heal.
Just as important as the work itself is feeling that your therapist is present with you, really listening, and validating your experience. I believe being seen and heard is a vital part of healing. I am trained in Somatic Intervention, DBT, and EMDR, and I use these approaches thoughtfully based on what feels most helpful for you. The focus is always on creating a space where you feel supported, respected, and understood.
I prefer not to categorize needs, because as humans, our needs change over time. What feels important today may look different later, and I believe therapy should be flexible enough to reflect that. I am always open to feedback so we can adjust our work together in a way that feels right for you. Collaboration and honesty are key parts of the process.
When I say that we work together, I truly mean it. I am here to support you and help you learn skills that can move you forward, but I also recognize that you are the one doing the work. Showing up takes courage, and I give you a great deal of credit for that. Choosing to invest in yourself is already a meaningful step toward change.
What you can expect from sessions with Zahavah Fishfeld, LMHC
Having a consistent and safe space for you is very important to me. For some people, therapy may be the only place where that sense of safety exists, and I hold that with care and respect. I want you to know that when you come to session, you are stepping into a space where you can show up as you are. My intention is for you to feel supported, grounded, and not alone in what you are carrying.
I understand that therapy is only a small slice of your week, and that your life continues long after the session ends. We often start by checking in and looking at how what you experienced during the week affected you emotionally. We can talk about what skills you were able to use, as well as where things felt harder or didn’t go as planned. Each session is meant to leave you with something to focus on, so you can take what we discuss and carry it with you throughout the week.
If mindfulness, grounding, or breathing feels helpful, those practices can be part of how we wrap up a session. They can be useful tools to help you feel more settled before you leave and more connected to yourself. If you find it difficult to name a feeling and instead talk through multiple situations, I can help gently redirect the conversation to identify what you are actually feeling underneath. Everything in your life plays a role in your overall functioning, and our work will focus on helping you feel more consistent, connected, and aligned with all parts of yourself.
Zahavah Fishfeld, LMHC's experience working with the Jewish community
I have worked with adults and children in the Jewish community throughout the last fourteen years. Over that time, I have come to deeply value and respect the role that faith and tradition can play in someone’s life. I am mindful of your beliefs, and I will always hold them with care and respect as we work together. Your religious identity is just as important as every other part of who you are, and it deserves to be acknowledged and honored in therapy.
My experience spans clinics, private practice, and school settings, and I have learned a great deal from the people I have worked with in each of these spaces. Each setting has shaped my approach and deepened my understanding of what it means to support someone in a real, practical way. I believe therapy should feel grounded and relevant to your life, and I bring that perspective into our work together. Ultimately, I aim to create a space where you feel seen, understood, and supported in a way that respects all parts of you.
