Why Rivkah Vegh, LMSW chose to be in the helping profession

I chose this field because I believe therapy can be a transformative experience that helps people be their best selves, and I wanted to be part of that beautiful transformation. In a world that unfortunately comes with so much pain, I wanted to work with people to help them find their light, even during difficult and confusing times. I have always enjoyed connecting with people, and I feel humbled and honored to hear their stories and learn about their experiences. Being able to witness where someone is in their life and then work alongside them as they move toward the goals they have set for themselves is something I find incredibly meaningful.

I also believe that every person has a unique story, and I feel privileged to be invited into that story through therapy. Sometimes people need a space where they can simply be heard, while other times they are ready to explore, grow, and make changes. I enjoy meeting people where they are and helping them discover what is already within them. Watching someone find their strengths, understand themselves more deeply, and begin to see their own light is what continues to make this work so meaningful to me.

Welcome to the world of feelings and self-attunement! I believe people have inside themselves the answers and wisdom they need to heal, problem-solve, and process. Therapy can be that space for you to discover your well within, and to learn more about who you are, what you feel, and what you need. I think this is true for children, teens, and parents, because we are all constantly learning more about ourselves and the people around us. My role is to help create a space where that discovery can happen in a way that feels safe, supportive, and meaningful.

I take a client-centered, humanistic approach and sprinkle in different aspects of IFS, CBT, DBT, and attachment-based work as it suits the client. I don't believe that one approach is going to look the same for every person, so I try to meet each client where they are and use the tools that fit them best. Together, we can explore feelings, relationships, behaviors, and the different parts of your inner world. My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you can better understand yourself, connect with your own wisdom, and feel empowered to make the changes you are looking for.

What you can expect from sessions with Rivkah Vegh, LMSW

You can expect a warm, gentle, yet direct environment where we discover the world of feelings, relationships, and behaviors together. I want therapy to feel like a space where you can be yourself, ask questions, explore what is going on inside, and feel comfortable being honest. With younger children, I integrate play and art throughout my sessions because children often communicate and process their experiences in ways that go beyond simply talking. I also often integrate parents into sessions, in addition to meeting separately, so you can continue to feel empowered and supported in your parenting at home.

For teens and young adults, you can expect to be empowered, to have your voice heard and respected, and to have a space where your concerns and feelings can be explored openly. I want you to feel that you are an active part of the process and that your experiences matter. Therapy can sometimes mean stretching muscles you didn't know you had and discovering peaks you didn't know were possible. My hope is that, together, we can create the space to explore those possibilities, understand the challenges along the way, and help you discover more of what you are capable of.

Rivkah Vegh, LMSW's experience working with the Jewish community

I taught high school in an out-of-town frum community, where I also had the opportunity to mentor girls of all ages. Those experiences allowed me to connect with students in a meaningful way and gave me a deeper understanding of the different challenges that children and teens can face as they grow. From there, I segued into social work, where I was able to build on that experience and continue working with people in a different capacity. I interned in a high school in Lakewood, supporting students with their school life and helping them navigate the different experiences that came with it.

I now work for TeamCare, providing in-home services to Lakewood and the surrounding areas. Working with people in their own environments has given me the opportunity to see the importance of meeting clients where they are, both literally and emotionally. My experiences teaching, mentoring, working in a school setting, and now providing in-home services have all shaped the way I approach therapy. Each experience has reinforced for me how important it is to create a space where people feel understood, supported, and empowered as they work toward their goals.
