Why Rivkah Adison, LMFT chose to be in the helping profession

I chose this work because I’ve seen how painful it can be when people feel stuck in the same patterns, going in circles without really getting anywhere. I’ve worked with individuals and couples who feel misunderstood, disconnected, or alone, even while they’re sitting right next to each other. That kind of loneliness in a relationship can feel especially heavy, and it’s something I don’t take lightly. At the same time, I’ve also seen how powerful it is when that begins to shift, when people start to feel heard in a different way and something new opens up between them.

I’m drawn to helping people make sense of what’s happening underneath the surface, not just the content of what they’re arguing about, but the deeper emotions, fears, and needs that are driving it. So often, those parts go unspoken or unnoticed, and that’s where so much of the disconnection lives. When we can slow things down and bring more clarity to those deeper layers, things begin to change in a way that feels real and lasting. It’s not just about resolving a single conflict, but about understanding each other differently and building something more solid from there.

This work matters to me because relationships shape how we experience everything else in life. When there’s tension or distance in our closest relationships, it has a way of touching everything, from how we feel day to day to how we see ourselves. Being able to help people feel more understood, more connected, and more secure, both within themselves and with each other, is something I take seriously. It’s meaningful to be part of that process and to support people as they move toward a place that feels more steady, more open, and more connected.

Rivkah Adison, LMFT's approach

My approach to therapy is structured, direct, and focused on real change. I’m not someone who just sits back and listens without offering guidance or direction. I’m actively helping you understand the patterns you’re stuck in, and more importantly, what’s driving those patterns underneath. We’re not just talking about what’s happening on the surface, we’re working to make sense of the deeper emotional dynamics that keep showing up again and again.

Together, we slow things down and look more closely at what’s actually going on in the moment. As things become clearer, I help you build the awareness and tools you need to communicate differently and show up in a new way, both in your relationships and within yourself. The work is warm and supportive, but also honest and accountable. My goal is not for you to stay in the same place with more insight, but to help you actually move forward in a way that feels real and lasting.

What you can expect from sessions with Rivkah Adison, LMFT

You can expect a space that feels both safe and productive, where there’s room to be open but also a clear sense of direction. I’m not going to let the conversation spiral or stay at the surface level. I’ll guide us toward what’s actually keeping you stuck, so we’re using our time in a way that feels meaningful and focused. The goal is not just to talk, but to understand what’s really going on and begin to shift it.

We’ll slow things down and take a closer look at the patterns playing out between you, especially in the moments where things tend to go off track. As we make sense of those dynamics, I’ll help you work on changing how you communicate and respond to each other in real time. The work is warm and supportive, but also direct and honest. I’ll challenge you when it’s needed, keep things on track, and make sure each session is moving you toward real, lasting change.

Rivkah Adison, LMFT's experience working with the Jewish community

I have experience working within the Jewish community and understand how deeply cultural values, family dynamics, and religious life shape each person’s experience. These are not just background factors, they often sit at the center of how people make decisions, relate to others, and see themselves. I’m familiar with the layers that come up around dating, marriage, and family, and how much weight those areas can carry. I approach this work with an appreciation for the context you’re coming from, not as something separate from the process, but as an important part of it.

I’m mindful of the nuances around gender roles, community expectations, and the balance between personal needs and communal values. This is something I hold with sensitivity and respect, while also creating space for you to explore your own voice, needs, and identity within that framework. My goal is not to push you in any one direction, but to help you find clarity in a way that feels true to you. Together, we focus on strengthening your relationships in a way that aligns with both your values and the life you want to build.
