Rachel Goodman, RDN's style
💙 Warm 💡 Solution-oriented 🥇 Empowering 💭 Open mindedWhy Rachel Goodman, RDN chose to be in the helping profession
My first negative body image thought happened when I was 9 years old. I went on my first diet at 11. For the next 15 years, I found myself stuck in the exhausting cycle of yo-yo dieting, with so many life experiences overshadowed by the constant noise of food rules, guilt, and body shame. I decided to become a Registered Dietitian from a place of personal struggle because I know firsthand how heavy that burden can be. I loved food to the point of feeling addicted to it, and while I found health and nutrition fascinating, I couldn't figure out how to have a healthy relationship with either. It was holding me back from fully showing up for my life and feeling good about myself. I knew that if I could learn how to stop binge eating and truly care for my body, I could help others find freedom from the same struggles.
I'm incredibly grateful that I was able to do just that. My own healing journey led me not only to stop binge eating and confidently care for my body, but also to experience food as a joyful and meaningful part of my life. Today, eating is simple. Nutrition is practical. Getting dressed in the morning no longer activates the inner body bully that once crushed my self-esteem. Life feels more purposeful, peaceful, and joyful, and that is exactly why I chose this profession.
Now, I have the privilege of helping my clients experience this kind of healing in their own lives. After spending years, and sometimes decades, feeling trapped by diet culture, they are finally able to eat with confidence, feel healthy, trust themselves around food, and live more fully. Freedom from food obsession and body shame is possible, and I'm here to help you get there too.
Rachel Goodman, RDN's approach
I help people heal their relationship with food and body hate by combining the science of nutrition with the psychology of eating behaviors. Rather than focusing on willpower, rigid rules, or diets, I work with clients to understand the underlying factors driving their struggles with food. Whether you're dealing with binge eating, overeating, emotional eating, body image concerns, or confusion about nutrition, we'll work together to uncover what's really going on beneath the surface.
My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and rooted in the belief that there is always a reason behind your struggles with food. You are not lacking willpower, and you are not broken. Together, we'll identify the factors contributing to these challenges so you can regain a sense of control and learn to eat with confidence in a way that feels sustainable. Using practical, evidence-based strategies, I help clients build body trust, strengthen emotional regulation skills, and develop eating habits that feel natural rather than forced.
The goal is not simply to change what you eat. It's to create lasting peace with food and your body so you can spend less time consumed by thoughts about eating and more time fully showing up for the moments, relationships, and experiences that matter most. My hope is to help you move beyond what you eat and begin living a fuller, more meaningful life.
What you can expect from sessions with Rachel Goodman, RDN
Our work together goes far beyond meal plans and nutrition advice. We'll explore your eating patterns, thoughts, emotions, body signals, and life circumstances that may be impacting your eating habits, relationship with food, and body image. I believe that understanding the "why" behind your struggles is an essential part of healing, and that meaningful, lasting change comes from addressing the whole person, not just what is on your plate.
I want to get to know YOU. That means learning about your history with food and eating, your current struggles, your likes and dislikes, your lifestyle, health history, and your personality. During our first session, we'll spend time getting to know each other while exploring your current mindset around food and eating. Together, we'll begin uncovering the factors that may be contributing to your challenges, whether they stem from dieting, emotional eating, body image concerns, stress, or other life experiences. By understanding the root causes of your struggles, we can create a personalized roadmap that helps you move forward with greater confidence, self-trust, and a healthier relationship with food and your body.
Because every client is unique, follow-up sessions are tailored to your individual needs, goals, and challenges. Together, we'll identify the specific obstacles that are keeping you stuck and work through them step-by-step, building the skills and confidence needed to create lasting change. I view our work as a collaborative process, which means I encourage you to openly share your thoughts, experiences, concerns, and feedback throughout our time together. This allows us to find strategies that truly resonate with you, making your healing journey more sustainable, realistic, and effective for your life.
My goal is not to prescribe a plan that you simply need to follow. Instead, I want to help you develop a peaceful, trusting relationship with food and your body while creating healthy habits that feel authentic, achievable, and sustainable for the long term.
Rachel Goodman, RDN's experience working with the Jewish community
I understand the added layer of challenges that being Jewish, and especially frum or Orthodox, can bring to your relationship with food and body image because I've lived it myself. Just when you feel like you're getting back on track, Shabbos arrives and suddenly you're navigating an abundance of food, disrupted routines, and the stress that can come with both. If you make it through Shabbos feeling okay, the holidays can bring their own set of challenges. Eight-day Yom Tov stretches, endless meals, and constant food-centered gatherings can leave you feeling overwhelmed, physically uncomfortable, and eager for it all to be over, rather than fully present with your family and the meaning of the holiday.
Then there are the simchas, community events, and social gatherings that are such a meaningful part of Jewish life, yet can feel incredibly stressful if you struggle with body image. Getting dressed, being around food, or worrying about how you look can take a significant toll on your mental and emotional well-being. I understand these unique lifestyle factors and the very real impact they can have on your relationship with food and your body, both personally and professionally.
Because of this lived experience, my Jewish clients often tell me they feel deeply seen, understood, and supported in our work together. You don't have to explain the nuances of Orthodox Jewish life to me. I understand the challenges, and together we can find a way to heal your relationship with food and your body while honoring the values and rhythms that are important to you.

What people have to say about working with me:
-
“I had dieted my entire life and it always seemed like a yoyo, I would lose weight and then gain it all back and then some. Rachel helped me make positive changes in my lifestyle that helped me overall be healthier. I am sleeping better, I am less stressed and I am not nighttime snacking. Rachel gave me definitive ways to combat stress and helped me change my thinking. When those factors were dealt with it was much easier to focus on internal cues for hunger and fullness. She also gave me practical food ideas for snacks, suppers etc. My favorite part of the intuitive eating approach is food is not stressful… Overall I feel healthier both physically and emotionally after using Rachel’s approach.”

“Food is just not a struggle anymore! I’ve stopped binging and no longer think or worry about food all day. I’m able to listen to and respect my hunger and fullness cues, eat what I want and enjoy it, and then move on without stressing about it or worrying that it will turn into a binge. It’s kinda crazy, I’ve never experienced this before – to be able to eat without all the worry and stress – it feels so freeing! Thank you, Rachel!”

-
“Rachel gave me very concrete goals to work on each week and dove right in to discuss them with me at the start of each session. She really listens to what I tell her I’m going through and gives feedback that shows that she heard me. Her sensible advice and practices have helped me change much of my negative body image issues and really dig down to the root of them!… My eating and body image issues aren’t stemming from my food choices. They were deeply rooted emotional viewpoints which she helped me to unearth and deal with.”
Davii M.
-
“Rachel helped me solidify the idea that food is neither good or bad; instead it’s how a particular food might nourish or fuel or satisfy me at that particular moment…. [and] how to better manage my blood sugars. Helping me look for patterns in food, meal consistency, exercise, sleep, and stress that might be affecting my sugar levels. Learning to assess and appropriately react to my cravings has made a big difference in my life… I feel so much more free from the obsessive thoughts about food and the constant pull to eat or eat more that I have experienced for so much of my life. I wish I had found Rachel 20 years earlier, but God’s timing is never wrong! “

“Rachel is a genuine expert and her knowledge of how food impacts our bodies seriously helped me. I knew about intuitive eating before I worked with her but I still had an unhealthy relationship with food. I never could figure out why I couldn’t sort it out. Meeting with Rachel made it possible for me to understand how to actually apply the principles in my life. I finally feel like my relationship with food is normal and healthy.“
