Elisabeth Sudiker, RN's style
💙 Warm 👂 Listener 💡 Solution-oriented 🥇 Empowering 🌎 Holistic 🙏 Spiritual 🐣 Out of the box 🧘 CalmWhy Elisabeth Sudiker, RN chose to be in the helping profession
Eleven years ago, I became a nurse because I wanted to be the person who explains things. Not the one who hands you a printout on your way out the door, but the one who sits down with you and makes it make sense. Over the years, working in nursing and care management, I watched the same thing happen again and again. Someone would leave an appointment with a diagnosis, a medication, and a number from their bloodwork, but no real understanding of what any of it meant. They had questions they never got to ask, so they went home and guessed.
I also came to this work from the other side. I have carried extra weight since I was a young child, and I know what it is like to try everything, to succeed, and then watch the weight come back with no explanation other than the feeling that something must be wrong with me. There was nothing wrong with me. There was biology nobody had explained, and understanding that changed the way I looked at my own health. That experience is a big part of why I do what I do now. I work with women on metabolic health, weight, and the medications so many people are navigating quietly and without enough guidance. I explain what is happening in their bodies, help them build something that actually fits their life, and help them go back to their own doctors better equipped to ask for what they need.
Nobody should have to figure out their own health alone. I want my clients to leave feeling like they understand what is happening in their own bodies and know what their next steps are.
Elisabeth Sudiker, RN's approach
I start by explaining what is actually happening in your body, because most people have never had that explained to them. Weight, blood sugar, hormones, and energy are all connected, and once you understand how, the choices in front of you stop feeling arbitrary. I believe information can take away a lot of the fear and frustration that comes with trying to manage your health. When things finally make sense, it becomes much easier to make decisions that feel right for you.
I do not hand people a meal plan and wish them luck. I look at your real life, what you cook, who you are feeding, how you sleep, what has already been tried and did not work, and what your days actually look like. Then we build something that fits it. I also bring my own experience to this work. I have been on the other side of it, so I understand what it is to try everything and still feel like your body is working against you.
I work as a Registered Nurse, and my role is educational. I do not diagnose or prescribe. What I do is help you understand your own health well enough to make good decisions and have better conversations with your own doctor. There is no shame in my sessions. Obesity and metabolic conditions are medical, not moral, and I have never once seen shame help anybody.
What you can expect from sessions with Elisabeth Sudiker, RN
Our first session is mostly me listening. I want to hear your history, what you have tried, what your labs show, and what a normal week actually looks like for you. I am not interested in building a plan based on an imaginary version of your life. I want to understand what is really happening so that what we do together can actually be useful.
Then I explain what I am seeing in plain words, without jargon and without rushing you. You will not leave a session with unanswered questions because there was not enough time. I incorporate a lot of mindset coaching as well, because understanding the biology is important, but so is having the support and mindset to stay on your journey. We build a plan together, and it will be specific to your life rather than a generic list.
I focus on small changes that you can actually keep, not an overhaul that collapses in three weeks. If something belongs with your doctor, I will tell you that clearly and help you prepare for that conversation, including what to ask and what to bring up. My goal is for you to feel more informed and more confident advocating for yourself. Sessions are private and unhurried, and you can say anything here.
Elisabeth Sudiker, RN's experience working with the Jewish community
I am a frum woman living in Lakewood, so this is not a community I work with from the outside. It is my own. That shapes everything about how I practice and the way I understand the women I work with. I understand what a week actually looks like when you are cooking for Shabbos, running a household, and managing your own health somewhere at the bottom of the list. I understand what Yom Tov season does to a routine, and what a fast day means when you are managing a medical condition. Nobody has to explain any of that to me first.
I also understand how private these matters are in our world. Many women are managing their weight, their blood sugar, or their medications quietly, without telling anyone, because of how it might be seen. I take that seriously. Nothing shared with me leaves the room, and I never ask anyone to be more open than she wants to be.
I have taught health education in the community, including a series on type 2 diabetes for older adults, and I produce health education audio for frum listeners. I care deeply about making health information understandable and accessible, especially when there is so much confusion and misinformation around these topics. What I hear most often is that women want information they can trust, from someone who understands their life, without feeling judged. That is what I try to give them: a place to ask questions, understand what is happening, and get guidance that respects both their health and the life they are actually living.
