Why David Spinka chose to be in the helping profession
Are you feeling overwhelmed by the changes happening in your life?
A new job or no job. A new relationship or no relationship. A new living situation or life milestone.
Do you find yourself constantly worrying about the future but feel unable to make decisions in the present?
Stressed. Uncertain. Stuck.
You are not alone. I care and I get it.
As someone who moved cities, countries and continents multiple times and who delayed almost every major life decision by at least a year (and in the case of dating and committing to a life partner, almost 10 years) I understand the difficulties with adjusting to change and uncertainty about making decisions or knowing who you really are.
My own journey through therapy, graduate school and intensive training led to developing an expertise and passion for helping adults overcome anxiety and thrive in new circumstances.
David Spinka's approach
In a warm and supportive manner I will help you learn practical, evidence based skills to manage your emotions, face your fears and thrive in new circumstances. I have extensive training in evidence based modalities. My therapeutic approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which helps people draw connections between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors so that they can cope more effectively with their anxiety. I integrate principles and techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Positive Psychology using a strengths based perspective.
