Why Sury Klein, MSW chose to be in the helping profession

I chose the helping profession because I believe that healing happens in relationship, when someone feels truly seen, heard, and met without judgment. Over time, I have learned that trauma, addiction, and emotional pain do not exist in isolation. They live in the body, in relationships, in family systems, and in the stories people carry about who they are and what they deserve. I was drawn to this work because I wanted to sit with people in those moments, not to fix or rush them, but to walk alongside them as they make sense of their experiences and begin to reconnect with themselves in a way that feels grounded and real.

My approach is trauma-informed, compassionate, and rooted in genuine human connection. I place a strong emphasis on safety, honesty, and pacing, knowing that meaningful change cannot be forced. I believe people heal when they feel respected, empowered, and supported, rather than judged or pushed. Whether someone is navigating addiction, recovery, trauma, or a significant life transition, my role is to create a space where their experiences can be explored with clarity, care, and intention.

At the heart of my work is a deep respect for resilience and the ways people have learned to survive. Many come to therapy carrying shame or self-blame for coping strategies that once helped them get through difficult circumstances. I see these strategies as meaningful responses to pain, not personal failures. Together, we work to understand them with compassion and move toward healthier, more sustainable ways of living, relating, and caring for oneself.

Being in the helping profession, for me, is not just about skills or techniques. It is about presence, consistency, and a willingness to listen deeply. It is about honoring the courage it takes to ask for support and to stay engaged in the process of healing. This is the work I feel called to do, and the work I am committed to doing with integrity, care, and respect for each person’s unique path.

Sury Klein, MSW's approach

I take a trauma-informed, compassionate approach that prioritizes safety, pacing, and collaboration at every step. In both therapy and coaching, I focus on understanding the why behind patterns related to trauma and addiction, without judgment or assumptions. Many coping behaviors once served an important purpose, helping you survive experiences that felt overwhelming or unsafe. Rather than trying to eliminate these patterns quickly, we take time to understand them with care. Together, we work toward healthier, more supportive ways of living that feel realistic, respectful, and aligned with your values.

I believe the therapeutic relationship is foundational to meaningful change. Feeling seen, heard, and genuinely understood creates the conditions where growth can happen. I aim to offer a grounded, non-shaming space where honesty is welcomed and vulnerability is met with compassion. Progress in this work is meant to be sustainable, not driven by pressure or perfection. My role is to support you as you build clarity, self-trust, and a deeper sense of connection to yourself.

What you can expect from sessions with Sury Klein, MSW

You can expect a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where your experiences are taken seriously and honored at your pace. Our work together is collaborative and trauma-informed, with an emphasis on understanding patterns related to trauma and addiction rather than labeling, blaming, or pathologizing them. I aim to create an environment where you can speak openly and feel met with curiosity and care. This foundation allows us to approach difficult material in a way that feels steady and contained.

Together, we focus on building insight, emotional regulation, and practical tools that support meaningful change in daily life. Progress is never rushed or forced, and there is room to move slowly when needed. Change often shows up as increased clarity, greater stability, and a stronger sense of connection to yourself and others. Above all, you can expect honesty, respect, and a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, consistency, and care.

Sury Klein, MSW's experience working with the Jewish community

I am an Orthodox Jewish therapist with experience working in and alongside the Jewish community, while deeply respecting all religious backgrounds. I understand the unique complexities that can arise when trauma, addiction, or sexual abuse intersect with faith, modesty, and communal expectations. These experiences are often layered, shaped by both personal pain and the pressures or values of a close-knit community. I approach this work with care, awareness, and a deep respect for how faith and identity can influence healing.

I strive to provide culturally sensitive, trauma-informed care that honors both lived experience and religious values. My goal is to create a space where difficult topics can be explored without fear of judgment or dismissal. Clients are not asked to choose between their faith and their healing. Instead, we work thoughtfully and collaboratively to support growth, clarity, and integrity within the context of what matters most to them.
