Why Hayley Miller, LPCC, RD, CEDS-C, CDN chose to be in the helping profession

I found from a young age that people often felt comfortable talking to me about issues they were experiencing. When I supported others, I felt genuinely happy that I was able to help, and I began to feel called toward the helping professions. Over time, I developed a strong interest in both dietetics and psychology, and I made the decision to combine these areas when starting my practice. This blend allows me to support people in a more holistic way, considering both mind and body.

I am a lifelong learner and appreciate that my work allows each day to feel a bit different and engaging. I value that variety, as it keeps me curious and grounded in growth. I also have a strong interest in exploring new techniques that can better support different types of people and their unique needs. I am open to feedback about what has been helpful and what has not, and I use that to continue refining how I work with clients.

Hayley Miller, LPCC, RD, CEDS-C, CDN's approach

I believe therapy and nutritional counseling are an important and sacred space where people can unburden themselves and work through whatever they may be struggling to process. It is a place where clients can be completely honest and open about issues that are often difficult to talk about elsewhere, including sharing their unique perspective and receiving validation for their feelings. Many different emotions and experiences come up in this work, and I take a completely non-judgmental approach to whatever arises in the room. My goal is to create space for clients to feel safe enough to explore what they are going through and begin finding their own way forward from wherever they are starting.

I use an eclectic approach to working with clients that draws together my years of training and experience. I am trained in behavioral approaches such as DBT, CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and motivational interviewing, as well as relational and integrative approaches including person-centered work, intuitive eating, somatic therapy, attachment-based therapy, and Health at Every Size. I bring these modalities together in a flexible way rather than a one-size-fits-all method. Together, we collaborate to determine which approaches feel most supportive and aligned with your goals, adjusting as needed ืœืื•ืจืš the process so the work remains tailored and meaningful to you.

What you can expect from sessions with Hayley Miller, LPCC, RD, CEDS-C, CDN

For me, the goal of therapy and nutritional counseling is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can process what they have been through, reflect on who they would like to become, and explore what changes they would like to make, or not make, as they find a path forward from where they are starting. Together, we make space for all feelings, including the ones clients may feel strong resistance toward or have complicated relationships with. In this work, we often explore relationships with the self, with food, and with others, as well as relationships that may not yet exist but that clients would like to build over time.

I support clients in working toward their therapeutic goals while also staying open to new ones that naturally emerge along the way. Goals are never created in isolation; they are developed collaboratively, with the client always at the center of the process. My role is to gently support movement forward, offering a little encouragement when it feels tolerable to deepen or expand the work. The pace is always guided by what feels workable and sustainable for the client.

My practice primarily focuses on working with individuals experiencing eating disorders, body image concerns, dissociative disorders, trauma, PTSD, and attachment-related challenges. In this work, I aim to meet clients where they are while supporting them in building greater stability, understanding, and connection over time.

Hayley Miller, LPCC, RD, CEDS-C, CDN's experience working with the Jewish community

Through the years, I have worked in higher levels of care as well as in outpatient settings within my private practice, including work with members of the Jewish community. This has included individuals who identify across a range of backgrounds and denominations, including Orthodox, Reform, Conservative, and Hasidic communities. I value the opportunity to work with clients from diverse lived experiences within Judaism and bring cultural awareness into my clinical work.

I am familiar with general Jewish law as it is understood and practiced across different streams, and I also have a strong working understanding of kashrut and related dietary considerations. This allows me to be mindful of cultural and religious context when integrating therapy and nutritional counseling. I aim to approach this work with respect, sensitivity, and an openness to each clientโ€™s individual practice and beliefs.

What people have to say about working with me:

  • Hayley is one of the most diligent and dedicated providers I have ever worked with. She is licensed in both mental health and nutrition counseling so that she can deeply and holistically facilitate the recovery process for clients struggling with eating and body issues alongside other mental health factors. She has taken several advanced training courses to augment her work as a trauma specialist. One of her strengths is truly understanding her clients in the full complexity of their experience. And she works tirelessly to communicate and collaborate with other providers to ensure her clients receive the care they deserve.
