😃 Humorous 💡 Solution-oriented 🥇 Empowering 🤝 CollaborativeWhy Carolyn Levi, LCSW chose to be in the helping profession
I have always been drawn to teaching. There is something incredibly rewarding about guiding others in their learning and growth. After a short time in the classroom, I realized that while I loved helping others learn, I wanted to do so on a more personal, one-on-one level. That realization led me to social work and therapy, where I could support clients in a way that felt deeply meaningful.
As a therapist and supervisor, and as Clinical Director at TeamCare, I not only help clients meet their individual goals but also guide and support other professionals on their own journeys. I am passionate about helping people see themselves, the world, and their relationships in new ways. It is fulfilling to be part of their transformation and to witness both clients and fellow professionals gain insight, confidence, and the tools they need to grow.
Carolyn Levi, LCSW's approach
I believe that growth and healing start with a strong, supportive relationship. I work alongside my clients and supervisees to uncover the potential that already exists within them, helping them build self-awareness, resilience, and the tools needed for lasting change. My approach is grounded in a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed care, allowing us to explore both the past and present to identify patterns, challenges, and new possibilities for growth.
Therapy is not about fixing what is broken but about discovering new ways of thinking, feeling, and responding to life’s challenges. Together, we navigate the complexities of emotions, relationships, and personal struggles, creating a path forward that feels both empowering and sustainable. Whether working with clients or guiding supervisees, my goal is always to provide a compassionate and collaborative space where individuals can move from feeling stuck to experiencing real, meaningful progress.
What you can expect from sessions with Carolyn Levi, LCSW
As a therapist, I strive to create a space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered. I use a mix of psychoeducation, active listening, humor, and goal-setting to foster a comfortable and engaging environment. My approach is collaborative, meaning we work together to explore challenges, uncover strengths, and develop strategies that lead to meaningful change.
In our sessions, you can expect a balance of reflection and action. We will take the time to understand patterns in your thoughts and behaviors, gain insight into how past experiences shape your present, and identify practical steps to help you move forward. My goal is not just to help you navigate difficulties but to equip you with the tools and confidence to create lasting changes in your life.
Therapy is a journey, and I am here to walk alongside you, offering guidance, support, and encouragement every step of the way.
Carolyn Levi, LCSW's experience working with the Jewish community
Since the start of my career, I have primarily worked within the Jewish community, providing support to individuals and families across all ages and levels of religious observance. My experience at Jewish Family Services and the Children's Center of Clifton-Passaic has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the unique cultural, religious, and communal dynamics that shape Jewish life.
Having a frum therapist who is familiar with these nuances can create a more comfortable and meaningful therapeutic experience. Clients often find that they do not have to explain the intricacies of their lifestyle, values, or traditions, allowing us to focus more deeply on their personal challenges and growth. My goal is to offer a space where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered while integrating their beliefs and cultural identity into the therapeutic process.
