Why Yedidya Levy chose to be in the helping profession

My work as a clinical psychologist is not just a career; it’s a calling that I find rewarding and meaningful. I see each client as unique and I value the opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with every person I work with. My approach to psychotherapy is not a one-size-fits-all. It's a deeply personal and evolving process tailored to each client’s needs, personality, and experiences. Collaborating with my clients to make meaningful and lasting change continues to fuel my passion for the work I do.

Yedidya Levy's approach

I am a psychodynamic therapist, which means I work with my clients to understand how their past experiences and relational patterns shape their everyday lives. This modality encourages an open exploration of the deeper aspects of human experience and decision-making—elements that often remain just outside conscious awareness. By developing insight into recurring patterns and emotional triggers, clients can make more intentional choices and create meaningful changes in their lives.

In addition to my psychodynamic training, I’m also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which allows me to utilize specific techniques for addressing acute issues and providing short-term relief. I believe that combining psychodynamic therapy with CBT techniques offers a well-rounded approach that can be particularly effective for many clients. Ultimately, my practice is best characterized as integrative, with a strong emphasis on psychodynamic therapy, allowing me to tailor my methods to each individual’s life story and specific needs.

What you can expect from sessions with Yedidya Levy

In our sessions, you can anticipate a judgment-free, warm, and evidence-based therapeutic experience. I believe in being clear about what the process entails and being honest about what psychotherapy can and cannot offer. My focus is on cultivating a trusting, deep, and corrective relationship that brings you closer to achieving your goals. I believe good therapy is both challenging and rewarding.

I also offer courtesy out of network insurance filings, which means clients can expect to be reimbursed by their insurance for up to 50% the cost of therapy, once their deductible is met.

Yedidya Levy's experience working with the Jewish community

I have extensive experience working with the Jewish community, particularly in my role as the assistant director of the Yeshiva University Counseling Center. For many years, I have been dedicated to supporting the college-age Jewish population, helping them navigate the unique challenges they face during this pivotal time in their lives. In addition to my work at the counseling center, I manage a robust private practice where I see many adult Jewish clients dealing with a variety of mental health challenges.

My insight into the cultural, social, and religious nuances across the spectrum of Jewish religiosity enriches my practice. I understand the complexities that come with balancing personal identity and community expectations, as well as how these factors can uniquely intersect with mental health. My clinical experience is further enhanced by my own lived understanding of these dynamics, allowing me to approach each client’s situation with empathy and a nuanced perspective.
