Shevach Tamir, LCSW's style
🎯 Direct 💙 Warm 💡 Solution-oriented 🥇 EmpoweringWhy Shevach Tamir, LCSW chose to be in the helping profession
I chose to be in this profession because I kept seeing the same pattern over and over again: good, caring parents feeling overwhelmed, confused, and unsure of what to do next. Not parents who didn't care enough, but parents who cared so much they were running out of ideas. If you're here, you might recognize that feeling of "I've tried everything, and nothing is working." It's exhausting, and it's isolating, and it can make even the most capable parent start to doubt themselves. I wanted to be someone who could sit with parents in that exact place, without judgment, and help them make sense of what's really going on beneath the surface.
Because here's what I've seen time and time again: when you understand your child in a deeper way, your responses begin to shift, and so does the entire dynamic at home. It's not about having a script or a set of rules to follow. It's about finally seeing the "why" behind the behavior, and once you see it, you can't unsee it, and everything starts to make sense. That transformation, watching a parent go from confused and reactive to grounded and connected, is why I do this work. Every parent deserves to feel capable and connected, not constantly second-guessing themselves at every turn.
Shevach Tamir, LCSW's approach
In our work together, we won't just talk about what your child is doing, we'll focus on how you're experiencing it in real time. Because those moments when things feel overwhelming, frustrating, or confusing are exactly where change needs to happen, not after the fact when you're replaying it in your head wondering what you should have done differently. I'll help you understand your child on a deeper level, while also giving you practical ways to respond differently in the moment, not just theories to file away for later. This isn't about memorizing the "right" thing to say. It's about building a real understanding you can draw on when things get hard, because that's when it actually matters.
My approach is collaborative, down-to-earth, and focused on what actually works in your day-to-day life, not some idealized version of parenting that doesn't hold up when your kid is melting down in the grocery store. We'll figure out what fits your family, your routine, and your reality, because generic advice only gets you so far. You won't leave sessions with more pressure, you'll leave with more clarity, and honestly, that's the difference that keeps parents coming back to what we're building together. My goal isn't to add one more thing to your plate. It's to help you feel like you finally have solid ground to stand on.
What you can expect from sessions with Shevach Tamir, LCSW
You can expect a calm, focused space where things start to make more sense, maybe for the first time in a while. We'll look at real situations with your child, the ones that actually happen in your house, and break down what's really going on beneath the surface. Not the surface-level behavior everyone else is telling you to fix, but the deeper "why" that's driving it. I'll help you shift from reacting in the moment to responding with more clarity and confidence, so those hard moments don't feel quite so hard anymore.
Sessions are practical, compassionate, though honest, because sugarcoating things doesn't actually help you or your child. We'll talk about what's working, what's not, and what might be getting in the way, all tailored to your family, not one-size-fits-all advice pulled from a parenting book that doesn't know your kid. The goal is simple: help you feel more grounded and more effective as a parent, so you can trust yourself again instead of second-guessing every move. That's what this work is really about.
Shevach Tamir, LCSW's experience working with the Jewish community
I have 15 years of experience working with individuals, families, and day schools in the Jewish community, and in that time I've had the chance to see this work from nearly every angle. This includes experience as a school therapist and SEL Director, as well as working independently advising principals, training educators, offering mediation between schools and parents, and providing therapy and coaching for parents in the community. That range matters, because it means I understand not just what happens in the therapy room, but what happens in the classroom, the hallway, and the home, and how all of it connects. When you've sat across from principals, teachers, and parents alike, you start to see the fuller picture, and that's the picture I bring into every session.
My approach is respectful, culturally sensitive, and aligned with a Torah-based worldview, because I believe how you raise your children shouldn't be separated from who you are and what you value. I aim to provide a space where parents feel understood and supported without needing to explain their background, their community, or the nuances of their daily life. This shared understanding allows us to focus more quickly on meaningful work, rather than spending our time bridging a cultural gap that shouldn't be there in the first place. It's one less thing you have to carry into the room, and one more reason we can get straight to what actually matters for your family.
