Our painful experiences aren’t a liability—they’re a gift. They give us perspective and meaning, an opportunity to find our unique purpose and our strength. ― Edith Eger, The Choice

Why Rachel Grossman, LCSW chose to be in the helping profession

I entered the helping profession because I genuinely love people and feel a deep sense of care for who they are. I’m often moved by the small, human details—our quirks, our stories, and the ways each person carries something uniquely their own. I’m guided by empathy and a belief in the inherent worth that lives in all of us, even when it’s hard to see in ourselves. When someone is struggling, I want them to feel truly seen, understood, and accepted.

My own experiences with adversity have shaped how I show up in this work, teaching me how to be with pain in a way that is gentle, steady, and non-judgmental. Because I’ve been there, I understand how hard it can be to carry things alone, and I’m committed to creating a safe space where you can begin to feel more supported. I aim to help you develop a kinder, more compassionate relationship with yourself, one that honors your experience and encourages growth at your own pace. Ultimately, my hope is that through this work, you feel more understood, more resilient, and more connected to your own worth.

Rachel Grossman, LCSW's approach

My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in deep respect for each person’s lived experience. I believe healing is a holistic process that involves the mind, body, nervous system, and emotional life, as well as our sense of meaning and connection. I see the body as an important source of information and healing, and I work with the whole person—not just the symptoms. When we work together, I aim to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and truly respected.

I draw from Somatic Experiencing (SE) to support nervous system regulation and trauma healing, and I use Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients build compassionate relationships with their inner parts. Mindfulness-based psychotherapy is woven throughout our work to cultivate present-moment awareness, curiosity, and self-compassion. We move at a pace that feels safe and supportive, honoring your inner wisdom and capacity for change. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, more connected, and more able to respond to life with a greater sense of ease.

What you can expect from sessions with Rachel Grossman, LCSW

In our sessions, you can expect a non-judgmental and gentle space where you are welcome just as you are. I make room for authenticity, turning inward, and meeting your experience with compassion and softness. You will be seen without pressure to perform or fix anything right away. My goal is to hold a steady, calm presence so you can feel safe enough to explore what is really going on for you.

Some sessions may focus on practical skills and tools to support you in daily life, while others may be slower and more reflective, creating space to connect with your body or with parts of you that are asking for care and attention. We will work collaboratively to identify your goals, honoring what feels most important to you. As therapy unfolds, we’ll revisit and adjust these goals together, allowing the work to evolve in a way that feels supportive and aligned. Throughout the process, I’m here to support you with patience, respect, and a belief in your capacity for growth.

Rachel Grossman, LCSW's experience working with the Jewish community

I’m deeply drawn to working with the Jewish community, which is also my own. I’ve worked with Jewish clients across a wide range of observance and practice, and I truly value meeting people where they are. I bring an understanding of Jewish culture and community life, and I understand how meaningful and complex this identity can be. I also bring my own spiritual connection to Judaism, including a quiet grounding in Chassidic teachings that informs how I understand the human experience.

At the same time, I hold an open, non-judgmental stance toward each person’s individual relationship to Jewish identity and practice. I’m not here to fit anyone into a mold or to push a particular way of being. My hope is to offer a space where Jewish clients feel seen, understood, and supported in a way that feels authentic to them. Whether you are looking for support around faith, community, relationships, or personal growth, I aim to honor your experience with respect and care.
