💙 Warm 👂 Listener 🥇 EmpoweringWhy Olga Lof, LMHC chose to be in the helping profession
We all need help sometimes, a "village" that supports us in our difficult moments, celebrates our achievements and encourages us in our growth. I specialize working with people who are struggling, but are looking to make better, happier lives for themselves.
Olga Lof, LMHC's approach
My approach is to focus on your strengths and your potential. During the sessions we will work on peeling off layers of traumatic and negative experiences, cleaning off the rust of the anxiety and depressed mood to reveal true you. Everyone is different and everyone's story is different, therefore my approach includes creating a special blend of therapeutic interventions for each client who comes to me.
I create a supportive and safe environment for my clients. Using evidenced based methods of psychotherapy I can help you to enhance your strengths, un-learn negative and ineffective behaviors and thoughts, and help you to build a skill set that will propel you towards authentic and successful life.
What you can expect from sessions with Olga Lof, LMHC
During the sessions we will work on re-examining your past and present experiences. We will sort what you need to keep and what is better to be left in the past. During the sessions, we will work on re-writing the personal narrative you created for yourself to make sure it reflects the true you. Moreover, often people who come for therapy, exist in a survival mode. We will work on moving away from survival mode to the thriving, future oriented one.
We will look at your strengths and successes, as well as those moments that you might describe as "not my best." Every misstep or failure is an opportunity to grow and we will make sure you rise to your full potential.
Olga Lof, LMHC's experience working with the Jewish community
Considering the fact that Jewish community is quite diverse, so are experiences of interacting with the community. As an immigrant myself from the former Soviet Union and a person with a Jewish heritage I have a unique perspective on the issues that affect immigrants, both from Jewish and other communities. I am also well familiar with the issues that historically and generationally affected Jewish communities throughout the Eastern Europe. Additionally, after living in the USA for 26 years, I've had an opportunity to learn more about specific situations that Jewish community has been encountering in this country.
As a therapist, it is my ethical obligation to continue to learn about cultural and other values of all my clients regardless their faith, ethnicity, race, culture, place of origin, sexual orientation, and gender identification.
I recognize the importance of religious observance for many people and respect their need to be a part of the faith-based communities. I see the open-mindedness and respectful attitude towards one's culture as an essential part of creating a safe and supportive environment for all my clients.
