I made the decision to enter the helping profession because my heart has always been drawn to people. I've always believed in the power of lending a hand, especially during times when life throws its curveballs. It's all about connecting those in need with the right assistance, and for me, that's deeply rewarding.
Food, in particular, holds a special place in my heart. It's not just about satisfying physical hunger; it goes beyond that. Food weaves itself into the fabric of our lives, influencing not only our bodies but our emotions and memories as well. When we sit down to share a meal with friends, it becomes a bridge between us, fostering connections and strengthening bonds. And when we recall the warmth of our mother's hearty soup from our childhood, it's like a comforting embrace that continues to soothe us even as adults. Food is more than just sustenance; it's a thread that weaves the tapestry of our lives.
Miriam Samuels's approach
I prioritize your unique needs and preferences. I firmly believe that your journey towards better health should be guided by your own desires and aspirations. My role is to be a dedicated listener, truly understanding your health goals.
Together, we embark on a collaborative journey to craft a customized lifestyle plan that resonates with you. Central to this plan is a tailored meal strategy that factors in your available time, energy levels, and available resources. It's easy for me to dictate what you should eat, but the real objective is to develop a plan that aligns seamlessly with your lifestyle. Providing you with a meal plan devoid of foods you enjoy or one that doesn't fit into your daily routine wouldn't serve your best interests, even if it looks perfect on paper. That's why I value your input at every stage of our journey together.
Furthermore, we delve into the broader aspects of your lifestyle that impact your well-being. We explore your sleep patterns, your approach to exercise, and how you manage stress, recognizing that health isn't isolated from the context of your life. Throughout our collaboration, I'll offer practical tips to help you manage stress more effectively and find ways to incorporate exercise into your routine. And if you've convinced yourself that you despise exercise, just wait – together, we'll discover activities that you genuinely enjoy and that contribute to your overall well-being.
What you can expect from sessions with Miriam Samuels
When you choose to work with me, you can expect a dedicated practitioner who genuinely cares about your well-being and is committed to helping you achieve your goals, whatever they may be. As I mentioned earlier, our journey together is a true collaboration, and your input holds significant value at every stage.
During our initial session, we'll dive into your personal food journey. We'll explore your current dietary habits and pinpoint areas you'd like to change or improve. Together, we'll devise a plan that aligns with your specific needs and preferences. We'll discuss which foods will best serve your overall health and well-being. Additionally, we'll explore effective stress management techniques and ways to incorporate more physical activity into your daily routine.
Did you know that exercise is considered the primary treatment for anxiety? This underlines just how potent exercise can be in enhancing your mood and boosting your energy levels. Together, we'll harness the power of physical activity to help you feel your best.
Miriam Samuels's experience working with the Jewish community
Over the past five years, I've had the privilege of actively engaging with the Jewish community through my teaching endeavors. Initially, I had the opportunity to educate adolescent girls on the intricacies of nutrition within an all-girls high school in my local neighborhood. It was a rewarding experience, and it marked the beginning of my journey in teaching about the importance of healthy eating.
Currently, I am deeply invested in teaching a nutrition course at Sara Schenirer, a role that I cherish immensely. While these classes are technically categorized as scientific courses, the discussions that unfold within the classroom stretch well beyond the boundaries of pure science. We delve into the profound role that food plays in our lives, recognizing its significance on both a physical and emotional level.
Moreover, our classes serve as a platform to tackle the abundance of misinformation circulating in society, as well as the harmful content that can significantly impact our eating habits and body image. It brings me great joy to be a guiding voice for these young women, providing them with answers to their questions and fostering a healthy, balanced perspective on food and their bodies. Through our interactions, I aim to empower them with the knowledge and mindset needed to make informed, nourishing choices that promote their overall well-being.
